I'm thinking about getting into the expeditor business. I was an O/O (Tractor-Trailers) for 15 years, (1975-1990). Getting tired of working for someone else and looking for a change. I've run time sensitive loads before. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a company that has loads into/ out of Arizona so I could get home every 2 to 3 weeks. Any companies that have more western freight?

You will have to research them but I believe Con-Way, FedEx and Landstar have a larger western presence than most other carriers. I also believe that Con-Way and Landstar allow you to run loads off their regular freight boards at will. If so, that might provide a load to get you home at better than d/h rates. Take the word larger with a grain of salt though because a gnat is larger than a flea too. Good luck.

You will also find that Tri-State has west-coast freight out to CA and AZ. Give them a call and one of the recruiters can fill you in. If your willing to stay out 2-3 weeks out, getting out west in a tractor shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the info furnished. I guess I should have been cleare in stating I'm looking to get into expediting with a straight truck. Sounds like there are loads coming into Arizona and back out.

I am a recruiter for Con-Way NOW, and yes we do have western freight. If you are running as a solo, we have some "Continuous Moves" freight that would get you in the area quite well. If you are running as a team, then you could possibly run even more through the western states.
