I seem to be seeing a lot of posts comcerning how slow business is. Is it realy slower than normal or is it becacue I am considering returning bact to driving? If it is slow I guess you can blame it on me, happens every time I try anything.

If you're coming back in a van I'd say hold off right now. D's are a bit better in some cases, but a lot of them are saying it's slow too. It's definately not what it should be this time of year.

So, in your humble opinion a "B" or "C" truck should not try at this time. And as a driver just how would a person tell the owner about this?

First, thanks for noticeing how humble I am. Just one of the things that makes me so freakin' awesome. The C trucks, being dock level, probably are doing a bit better than vans. It just seems to be the vans, and particularly those of us that depend on Big 3, that are having a tough time. As far as how to deal with an owner, can't help you there.

Ok Barney if it's your fault I'm making less, how about some solutions???(hahaha) Seems the expediting end may be in a bit of a slump especially vans. But at least I'm working to cure that. I'm out canvassing potential customers. Gotta do something to bring it back.

If you are thinking about purchasing a truck and then trying to find a home for it, you may want to wait. But, if you are purchasing a truck that is signed on with one of the more lucrative carriers, and that truck can stay in the fleet it reduces the risk factor.

If you are considering a cargo van it is the ONLY way that you can get your foot in the door with the better carriers.

PS. I do have a cargo van that can stay in the fleet and it is for sale if you might be interested. You can send me a private email if you have additional questions. It is also posted in the classifieds as Duramax Diesel.

One of the reasons we're slow, @ least where I'm from, is a lot of the companies stockpiled parts from Delphi. That's a lot less JIT freight in Saginaw.

Guess I should have made it clear earlier on that I am not interested in driving a van. I can't see how you guys make any money. It's kind of like having a part time job with full time bills.I keep telling the mail man that Bill doesn't live here. I have always driven a D and once a CR. I did great in the CR. Then I discovered class 8 D trucks.
