Air bag air dump switch.

My truck developed an air leak recently & I have traced in to The Air bag air dump switch on the dash board of my FL80 is leaking. I guess the spring that holds the air in place has weakened. I took the switch out of the Dash & if I play with it I can get the air to not leak as much. I was looking at the back of the switch itself where the airlines connect to it & I can't figure out how to losen the hoses off of it.

Are they quick disconnects? Do I just yank them off? Any insight would be helpfull.

Yes,they are quick disconnect........just push the air line in(as far as you can) and hold the the brass or copper sleeve down and pull the air line out.

Could be a weak spring; a o-ring going bad or worn cyclinder.

You might be better off replacing the valve.

Thank you so much! It's a bad spring. the air is pouring out of the little hole on the switch that releases presure when you dump the air. I've been trying to find this air leak for months now behind the dash board. I never heard air coming out of that switch until last week. I'm going to replace the entire switch. Since i'll have the dash panels off I'll replace the lights that are out on the switchs & gauges too. I've done that a couple of times in the past.

Re: Air bag air dump switch. **fixed**

I replaced the switch today, which was fairly easy. I had to cut the hoses off the old swtich they wouldn't come out. The hardest part was trying to get the lower hose in, it was a little short to begin with. Amazing how it's mostly air pressure that keeps those little guys in there. Nice to not have it leaking air.
