AIG Insurance

I am wondering if anyone has ever had an accident where AIG was the insurance handeling claim. One of my trucks was hit by a CRST truck and AIG is the insurance company. I have been trying to get my check from them since October. I continue to get the old checks in the mail talk. I am just wondering if anyone has any experince with them good or bad.or any advice based on your interaction with them.

I had a freind who was hit by a CRST truck several years ago and never recieved a dime. They have the recoures to play the waiting game and hope you go away. His truck had a bout 1500.00 damage and another 1200.00 in downtime. Like I said, he never got a dime. They told him to go ahead and get the truck repaired and you know the rest, the shop would'nt release the truck until the bill was paid. My buddy has since passed away and his wife has dropped the case after spending almost a 1000.00 on an attorney who of course said that he would recover his expenses. All a bunch of bull from the insurance industry and of course the bottom feeder lawyer who scammed this nice guy! I wish you luck and hope these inexperienced under qualified, drivers who cause heartache to everyone they come into contact are out of this industry ASAP! If you don't have a clue how to drive a truck go work at McDonalds and leave the highway to people that have the skills to operate safely! I'm beginning to ramble, sorry!!

Glen I was hoping for a more positive response :) That CRST driver tried to run after hitting my truck. My driver was thinking and he called out on th CB and numerous other drivers joined in to get this young fool to stop and own up to what he did. I have been after AIG since October and two weeks prior to that I was on CRST. I also enlisted my carrier to call. Everytime I speak to them I get some other story. I am hopeful that they do the right thing and pay for this. As for the folks that can't drive, they get away with this stuff all the time. Only the honest pay the bills. I was really ripped off by I69 Truck and Trailer back in May and I gave up the fight I may stick this one out just for to prove a point. I was thinking of a small advertisment on the back of each of my trucks listing bad seeds like this but at the rate I am going I will need more trucks to cover the negitive. :) Jackasses

As an update I have called AIG twice this week plus one fax and am getting the run around. I figured I would begin driving them nuts with calls this week and next and then introduce a call from my lawyer after Christmas. I am hoping they come through and do the right thing but I must say my confindence is shaken. RaceMan

I always thought CRST was the Cedar Rapids Slow Truck:7
Raceman, you need to change your tactic a bit with AIG. The lawyer call might do the trick. No reason why the claim shouldn't be adjusted in a week or two for property damage unless the accident involved death or serious injury.

Weave, I think you may be right. No there was no death or damage. Although I think my driver may have been thinking about something along those lines there at first. They just tore a hole in the side of the box, ruined right side drive tires and cost us a load going into NYC. That was actually the upside to it all. :) Yeah, No check in the mail I will turn the Lawyer on em. May be $275 well spent. Assuming the call does the trick. I wish I had got a law degree. Those guys get paid so well. 20/20 sight again.

Raceman:
Have you considered contacting one or more state departments of insurance?
You can call the insurance department in your state, the state of the home office of AIG, and maybe the state of the damage (where it occurred).
The staff workers in some state insurance departments are willing and able to help claimants, others are not.
Some departments are strong and helpful, others are not.
Some departments are independent and consumer-oriented, others are merely the handmaidens of the insurance industry.
It would not hurt for you to call them, and it may help.
And that would not cost you $275.
You can find the phone numbers of those departments by visiting the websites of the applicable state governments.
Some years ago I contacted the Ohio department of insurance -- in connection with a problem with an insurance carrier based in Ohio.
If I recall well, the staff in Ohio seemed concerned and helpful.
That problem eventually worked out.
(Don't you live in the Buckeye State?)
Good luck and best wishes,
Doc.

Doc, Thanks for the helpful input. I do live in the Buckeye and I am going from this site to the one you recommend. I used to carry AIG myself and I am glad now I discontinued that. I will give your advice a try. Good input. Thank you

A friend of mine had some damage to the front end of his Classic XL when the truck ahead of him at an intersection rolled backwards into him. (I just looked at the pictures again, and dang if the truck that rolled back into him doesn't have a CRST sign of some sort on the back end.) As I recall, the wife of the drive team had allowed it to roll backwards by not holding enough brake or giving enough gas as she was on the clutch waiting an opening in traffic. She was immediately apologetic, but when her hubby came out of the sleeper he was yelling at her to shut up and not say anything. AIG was the insurer. They refused to pay on the grounds that it was a "he said, he said" situation, since their client claimed that my friend had rear-ended them and denied that they had rolled backwards into him.

Makes the case for a dash-mounted camera/recorder. Would have been great to say "well, let's just go to the video replay and see what happened."

DocRushing, Thanks for the advice on the Department of Insurance. I called AIG explained I was turning this over to the Department of Insurance and BOOM! I got some attention. A few phone calls and then they issued my check and EXPEDITED it. Thanks for your input 100% helpful.

The only thing better would be if they hired your company to expedite it and you'd gotten the run and made mileage to go get it and deliver it to yourself. Good to hear it finally had a positive resolution.
