In considering a Sprinter purchase, I don't know whether to go with the 3.0l or 2.7l engine. So I ask: do you have the 6 cylinder, 3.0l or 2.7l 5 cylinder? What is your ACTUAL MPG? What is your average speed? Wheel base? I know what the internet says it "may" be from different sources, would like first hand knowledge.
Thank you!

OK, we JUST completed a 6,925 trip with 350.66 gallons for a REAL 19.75 MPG. Running an average of 67 MPH with our 2006 3500 (six wheeler) 2.7 Liter 5 cylinder, loaded average of about 900 lbs. We also ran our espar about 80 hours (close guess), usually on low setting, on the same fuel. I really cannot detect that the Espar uses much fuel at all but your guess is as good as mine on what it used out of the 350.66 gallons.
We have completed a 7,000 mile fuel economy run (about 60 - 61 MPH) with light loads and gotten 23.5 MPG but that would not be real MPG for everyday expediter use. We usually run about 63 and I would say a real MPG for 63, loads under 1,000 lbs would be realistically about 21.5 - 22 MPG.
We do have rooftop air (some say that costs 2-3 mpg but I doubt it) and we have the 158" wheelbase high top.
I think the extra 2 wheels we have cost us another 1 MPG or so over a 2500, but we can haul a real 4,000 lbs.
That's as real as we get!
