Been down in South Carolina since I unloaded Monday Morning. Pretty much another feast or famine week as I have nothing on the books yet...except my expenses. I pretty much screwed myself by declining a low paying offer that dropped me to the bottom of the list. Debating where to go at this point with a lot of sitting units around. In hindsight, yeah I probably should of accepted the load, (not guaranteed we would get it anyways), to get out of here.
Good thing I had a good week last week, looks like I will be splitting that pay with this week.
Declining a load puts you at the bottom of the list? As a driver, I would encourage letting somebody take your turn for you even if you got next pick

That is, if they don't offer unprofitable loads....

Just occured to me, we will probably see robot trucks before a useful phone app where you can bid loads

Transport companies rather than being forced to give up control and money, will have more of both

I do have my retirement area picked out. No municipal government, no bylaws, most importantly no people

:) I'm cranky. They pulled a move yesterday combining two days where I got paid for one but it took from 8 am to 4:30 am. I don't plan on retiring for another 15 years, but if this happens again it will be Thursday

Yup, has always been my 1 big gripe. depending if your local, regional, or long haul. if the criteria fits and you decline it for whatever reason, you are dropped to the bottom to start again...waiting for a load. Sometimes it not a big deal if your the closest unit around, but other times it can really screw up your week. Their way of having forced dispatch without technically having forced dispatch.
---my thing has been, if another driver accepts the load (which happens a lot) you should not be punished for declining if it was covered.

Exactly

I know the intention is to avoid everyone saying no (in which case somebody should reevaluate the rate) but life happens, we aren't hourly. I'd hate to sit for a week because I had a dentist appointment

Right now in fact I'm heading out for $50. It wouldn't change someone's position to say yes or no, and for me, as I'm basically driving by both pu and del locations already it's free money

Edit: the guy who said no is in same position and I get $50 towards fuel, win/win

Good week being a dedicated account driver… OK, that’s what it felt like as my 1st 3 loads were for the same customer. Way to go Load One
Have my 4th load of the week picking up Saturday breaking the streak with a different, but repeat customer.

I'd like to give a shout out to my carrier for giving me steady work in these tumultuous times but I'm not even sure who I work for. They change their names too much, but the company that owns 80% of Canadian transport is the parent

If the Big Beautiful Bill passes, I know it's flying under the radar but be prepared to cross the border and meet a Canadian driver in Canada eventually

This will be as big a hit as tariffs, perhaps bigger. 5% a year until 50% is reached in withholding tax, altering a tax treaty that's been in place since 1942

Adios USA (for me)

(I don't mind not crossing, I basically handle that and just hop across 10 miles doing the opposite. But my meet driver is not interested in a daily grilling at CBSA)

Edit: I forgot, an even bigger grilling at CBP 20 minutes later :p

Enough with the rain already. Had a nice brake for the Holiday, then right back to more rain. I need a rain jacket, I have one, but of course it's at home. But really it's longer then I need. But at this point, I'll take anything. The only coat I have with me that is water repellent is my winter coat. And boy, that coat gets too warm in the winter, so I can't keep that thing on for too long haha.

Fun times...just got out of the shop after dropping $1300 for repairs. $2-$3K more for someone else to do. Hopefully for less. Took the truck in for 1 thing and service center came back with a grocery list of things to fix totalling $16,000. After I regained consciousness, I pick 2 things to be done now. Some where needed, some I can do later, and others like replacing a fuel tank because it has a small dent in it, I'll pass :)
