    Sprinter or Straight truck

Welcome. Have to say the bigger the better and more comfortable, meaning a straight truck over a sprinter. Straight truck would be much more comfortable and you would make more money, though it's likely going to be more of an investment up front when you're ready to get your own. Definitely...

Newbie Alert: what do self employed Teams do about Health Insurance?

If you're going to be with FedEx, you might want to consider contacting Expediter Services. They work with Fedex and I know they offer some kind of health insurance through them...whether you can get it straight through Fedex, I don't know, I believe it's an ES thing. Contact Jeff Tacker...

    Panther and Expediters Service

2nd that; call and speak to Jeff Tacker, very helpful and nice as can be. They are particularly good for someone without a whole lot of experience, they can help you in so many different ways.

    Fyda freiightliner

I'd say my experience with them was mixed at best. Truck had issues that the shop should have been able to take care of, but was not able to; after repeated problems, sales came through and made good on finally getting the truck fixed, though it went through too much down time and lost loads...

    Car Expediter (my new gig)

I did this a long time ago, it was ok but in Chicago where I am, you spend most of your time in traffic so it takes a while to make any money. Plus, best make sure of your insurance situation...your normal car policy is likely not going to be valid as you're driving your car commercially...

    Leasing with several companies

Something I've seen in a few threads (the Eclipse Expediting one, for instance), the idea of leasing with several different companies. I never thought or even considered that a possibility...but, I've seen several mentions of it, saying this or that company is small and can't keep you busy...

    Straight Truck Pay

This was years ago, so no, afraid I did not share the info, and no, I did not get the money back (at least it wasn't $4 a gallon like now). With the internet and all these forums, that sort of information would be easier to share these days, and the technology may even make it easier to catch...

When does being a Newbie cease ?

Speaking of thinking, did you ever stop to think....and then forget to start again?

    Straight Truck Pay

I had a guy once use my fuel card to buy fuel for another truck and I'm sure he got a good piece of change and I got the bill. So, I'll go the route that has the driver paying for the fuel - as you say, he then has the incentive to drive more responsibly and will end up making more, anyway.

    Questions for fleet owners/drivers

I was in trucking nearly 20 years ago (cargo van with CTX plus several tractors with non-expeditors), am strongly considering getting back into it as a fleet owner to supplement my income (plus, I like it and miss it). I am sure a lot of things have changed and just wanted to pick some well...
