    Three months of flat rate

We've seen far fewer surface loads. (We're in a DR-TVAL truck.) Fewer, if any weekend runs. For some reason, we've also been seeing monday loads being dispatched on Thursday. Not sure why they're dispatching loads out that far. Hard to turn down some of those loads, but would prefer to work 5...

    Reefer times

Interesting article, that somewhat addresses the subject of insulation breakdown in reefer trailers and trucks. http://www.foodlogistics.com/article/10316279/keeping-the-cold-air-inside Moisture is the enemy.

    Total Choas at the FED

Not our best month, especially considering we have been out all month. Too much sitting, and the rates (TVAL) have been crazy at times. Too many short loads offered. We may be seeing the "Can't go to Cali" effect :( or an unintended consequence of the flat rate. Somethings going on, and it ain't...

    Flat rate???

Why yes, Zorry, we do have one of the "Undesirable" Carriers, lol Looking a little deeper at last year, We ran a total of 7 true Surface Expedite runs. Those runs accounted for 9503 total miles (8462 loaded, 1041 unloaded) They paid the truck $17,453.77 @ $1.84 all miles (There was $58.91 in...

    Flat rate???

We were away from home 308 days last year. I don't think we could make up that much :) We ran a total of 127 runs last year (including 4 dry runs.) We actually ran 123 runs. Of those: 19 required a liftgate 8 were hazmat loads 4 required inside P/U and Labor Since we are a WG truck, from my...

    Flat rate???

Thank you Daffy :) Good luck to you! We are very fortunate to be in the truck we are in, and drive for the owner we have. We have always looked at it this way: I we are going to drive, why not earn as much as possible for each mile we drive? I know we could probably make more per mile...

    Flat rate???

Let's just say if we only made $66,000, we would be doing something else now. We were extremely fortunate last year. We have a great fleet owner, and drive a very dependable, very well maintained truck. We drive it and treat it like it was our own. We choose which loads to accept and turn down...

    Flat rate???

(We drive a TVAL truck for a fleet owner. We are on a 40/60 pay plan where we get 40% of the run pay, owner gets 60% of run and 100% of the FSC and tolls. This is a fairly common compensation plan in the expedite industry.) Looking at the flat rate from a drivers point of view - If for a...

    Flat rate???

Just called the hotline. Was told the no negotiation was just for surface. Will not affect TVAL/WG Just as an aside, the lady on the phone added that "They would prefer we don't negotiate." To which I replied, "I would rather not negotiate either. Would rather you send me out a load with a rate...

    Flat rate???

We were at the contractor breakfast. It was my understanding that Surface dispatchers would no longer be able to negotiate after June 1. Surface loads would all be flat rate after June 1. Nothing would change as far as WG / TVAL, except for the ability to negotiate surface loads. We would...

    Flat rate???

I would guess they are probably not done yet. :( I'm thinking forced dispatch can't be far behind.

    Scanners

We have when scanning ours in. One rare occasions, especially if you pick up from airports, the ending digit isn't an "1". Seen 2's a few times. Ours is working as advertised. No missing BOLs so far. Have used it to send in our recent DOT inspection form and our IAC paperwork.

FEDEX CC White Glove D unit.

A tag axle is an additional non-fixed axle, used to provide additional payload capacity. It can be raised off the ground when not needed. TVAL stands for Temperature Validated. These are refrigerated trucks that have to undergo additional testing in order to haul certain "specialized" freight...

    New Exctr. rules and F.S.C.

I know the one time we went to Edmonton, we were given a Minneapolis layover. I cannot remember if that was part of the load acceptance negotiation, or if it was given once we unloaded. Delivered to Havre, MT. once and was given Seattle. Never really taken any other loads into the "boonies", so...

    New Exctr. rules and F.S.C.

Have friends that took a load to Edmonton. No layover. Should become increasingly difficult for FDCC to cover these loads to "nowhere", as it looks like they'll not going to give a layover on many of them. Just have to figure the deadhead out to a decent area into the original rate. Of...

No layover in Toronto last Thursday. Going to have to take the possibility into account when looking at load opps.

    Scanners

We picked one up in Green while there for TVAL testing this last week. Easy to install. The Clink recognized the scanner immediately. Ran through the calibration in a few seconds. We were ready to scan 5 minutes after opening the box. :) Sent in our first BOL after our delivery Friday...

    Scanners

Tried our Neat Receipts scanner. No lights, no camera, no action :( Tried it in usb port on the keyboard and the black box. No response in either. We'll be in Green next week for TVAL, so we'll see if there is a solution. If not, will probably see if they have them.
