Dont leave home with out IT

The Truck stop directory is great. Just be sure to sign up for the onlione updates. We found a Pilot the other day that wasn't in the printed guide.

    Whats up with the tractors????????

Well, I can definitley say that the Panther QC controls your logs. Don't vary from that punched time. Unless, you go to your driver site and see if they pinged the truck while stopped, and log it from there, but I think that would be too much hassle. And yes, straight and 53' is a big change...

    need input on truck purchase

On a side note, we saw your red KW today Dave. Looks even better in person, even if it's only driving by on an overpass.

    need input on truck purchase

I'm with Broom on this one. Paccar products are all I'll own. The fit and finish is excellent on my truck after 6 years. The Bentz sleeper is great, has developed a few rattles and one leak, but nothing I couldn't fix on my own with basic knowledge. The use of space is great, and the layout...

    anyone ever maxed out?

I have had all 24 feet full right to the door on this truck. To the point where the extra straps and stuff rode in the sleeper. I've also had maz weight on board hauling fertilizer bags. I was loaded on a scale until i was maxed, and then they shrink wrapped the last skid once the scale read...

Any info on Tran Stewart would be helpful

No reason to jump on LDB. Most questions posted here have been asked a million times by others before. I read lots of archived posts before ever putting my first words on here. The FAQ also answers alot of the usual questions that come up. I've heard good and bad about them.

For the Newbies...Why we really do this

While I do want to make a little(okay alot) at the end of the day, It's not about money for me. This life is in my blood, and I'll never grow tired of roaming this country. I couldn't think of doing anything else.

    Van miles

Van frieght is kind of up and down. When i was in a van, my first week I ran 2800 miles (What's Sleep?). The next one, 400 miles. Certain areas are good for vans, and some aren't.

    Super 10

I shift up at 1600, down at 1200, and double-down at 800. You can adjust for up and downhills as well. Thats the best place i've found if you don't like using the clutch.

    Super 10

Nah, don't pull it outta gear. ' it's just like splitting the top range in a 13 speed.

    SOLO CLASS B (Cargo/Sprinter)

I'd definitely go straight truck over van. In the van, 2800 miles one week, 400 the next. Too unpredictable for me. Mileage varies in the straight truck, but not to that degree.

My co-driver is starting soon and...

That's good to know, I'll keep him as a contracted person, and just make up a solid contract. I'm not dealing with paying his taxes. I don't suppose anybody would have a sample contract ?

My co-driver is starting soon and...

At the end of the coming month, actually 1 week before the Expo, my co-driver will be joining me. We have alreday come to a good agreement on pay, time off etc... My biggest question is, how do i work out paying him to keep it legal as far as taxes? he'll be a 10-99 setup, as I am. I never...

    Super 10

Well, I have a t300, with a super 10, and you have it correct. You have two gears in every position, but only do the pattern once. As far as fit and finish and ride quality, you can't beat KW.

    Working for Fleet

LDB, as an update, Jason will be on the road with me. After explaining that I couldn't afford to train him, and that he'd have to find a little more motivation, the rest of the trip he did all the paperwork, learned how to polish aluminum(better than i can), read the MI CDL manual, attempted to...

I'm qualified Tristate, with no owner to drive for.

RE: I'm qualified Tristate, with no owner to drive Well, I started with little on hand. I do not reccomend it. I've made it about 2 months. It's hard to sleep your 10 hours if you lie awake at night worrying about finances. I managed to survive the first breakdown. Dropped a water pump. But...

Any demand for full size pick up trucks for 1-3000

RE: Any demand for full size pick up trucks for 1- I would check your local area. Many fab and machine shops do custom jobs that need delivery now and then. A local here puts his gooseneck to work hauling custom conveyors for a local shop.
