Happy Birthday to ELMO!
That's LM in the middle of EO. Which should be LM at the beginning of EO, but LMEO sounds like 'laughing my ears off' and that's just not very funny. So, it's stuck in the middle: clowns to the left, and well, you know the rest. :jester:
Flatbed? Last time I saw him, [a few years ago at the Expo], he was driving a t/t, with an adorable stuffed moose on the dash. But from what I've seen of him on Facebook, he isn't driving at all anymore. I miss him, too.
Thanks, everyone, it was pretty cool! Well, it was actually warm instead, [in Alabama], but I did have cake: I made fruitcake in muffin cups. My sister said that's weird, but I say: if you think outside the loaf pan, every day is fun, lol. :D
$25 cash or $50 in vouchers for free tuna is pennies from heaven, IMO. I buy a lot of tuna, seriously, and there's not many brands to choose from, so odds are I'm not even exaggerating a claim. Nice link, BTW, Leo. :)
Moot runs for them because it works for him: he gets to be [mostly] retired, [granddaughter to play with!] and he gets some inspiration for great posts. Win/win.
Load 1 provides good loads, but lousy material for jokes, lol. ;)
Haha - the only bottled water I have is the gallon jug I carry into the store/truckstop to refill. $10.00 a gallon? If I pay for it [truckstop is free, at the sink], it's less than 40 cents. Hahaha!
Those 24 packs look awfully heavy, too, lol. :D
I didn't miss Dave's birthday, [caught him on facebook], just felt like writing a jingle, lol.
Hope it was a peachy keen one
For a guy who keeps us in our place
Always with wisdom, and wit, and style
And happily, with Grace!
PS I think Hawaiian shirts rock! :D
8 for me. I had no idea which museum houses the staircase, but the song played [to signal withdrawal] was my clumsy fingers - I knew the right answer, lol.
It's not about how well you know the war, though - it's just trivia. It says nothing about why the US felt it necessary to get into the...
Ok, Windsor, sorry - I couldn't tell that you were joking.
I love the various cultures and food and customs that we've added to our own, thanks to immigrants, but I firmly believe that we need to choose which of them we adopt. Language is one we don't want to change.
We do, and rightfully so. Being unable to communicate puts other people in a difficult position, and to do so by choice is just rude. Particularly when those other people need to communicate to do their job, like hospital & emergency personnel.
American English is a crazy language, no...
Another plus for Audible - the readers are pros [last one I listened to was read by Lynn Redgrave, who was excellent], but there are reviews by listeners that warn you off the few that don't measure up.
The biggest advantage to the mp3 player is that it goes along when I'm out of the truck, and the battery lasts way longer than the phone. I get free Kindle books, but Audible is a small luxury that's worth the cost. [Less than $20/month]
If you find the book "Leviathan" by Scott Westerfeld...
Re: 22 Maps That Show How Americans Speak English Totally Differently From One Anothe
I was gobsmacked the first time I heard a native of New Orleans [grandpa age] speak - he sounded straight off the Brooklyn boat, lol. I swear he said "They oughter berl em all in erl!" [La politicians, I think...
Re: 22 Maps That Show How Americans Speak English Totally Differently From One Anothe
As several people noted in the comments, the plural for 'you' in Western Pa is 'yinz' [sometimes pronounced 'yunz']. Pittsburghers also have a neat way of adding a 'w' to words like Mom, so it sounds like...
The first words out of [the interviewee] Bruce Jenkins' mouth raised my hackles: "we are a generation of lazy people" - really? Not the twenty-somethings I know! Especially not the one I raised, who works full time and goes to school, and has never expected anyone to 'give' her anything. Neither...
