    Straight truck under 26k

Thanks John for the reply. I currently have CDL B learners permit with Air brakes and Hazmat Endorsements. The issue is finding someone with a truck and a CDL B to take the skills/driving test. Could probably just go to a driving school, but looking at cost. Thanks for your reply, and any...

    Straight truck under 26k

It's a cost of doing business, and should be kept as low as possible.

    Straight truck under 26k

Is anyone running a straight truck under 26000 lbs.?? In NY for commercial driving that requires a class c licence. I could be a 18-20 ft. box and a sleeper. Is there any money to be made this way, or do I really need to go the expense of getting a class B license?

    Hino Drivers or O/O

I have been doing my due-diligence now for over 3 years. Have found a couple of trucks that I think will fit the budget, and the need. I know that there are a lot of people bad mouthing Hino for expediting, but I also know that there are several people running these trucks, so..........here...

    Texas Style Sleeper

Good Info....thank you! I am however a little confused about the Haz-Mat issue. YOu said that with a sleper set up that way, you can't haul Haz-Mat. How do Vans haul Haz-Mat without a bulkhead at all ??

    Texas Style Sleeper

I thought it was a sleeper that is built in the front of a "box" a new bulkhead installed to separate it from the freight. Say take a 26' box, and 6' from the front wall, put in a bulkhead, then add bed, cabinets, fridge, and cut the hole through front of the box and through the back wall of the...

    Box Floor Coating

Whenever I see pictures of inside box floors, they are always nice looking and well polished. I'm wondering if anyone ever uses something like "deck paint" that is used on aircraft carriers? I would think that it would be durable (good enough for the Navy) and that it would be easy to clean...

    Texas Style Sleeper

I keep reading about Tx. Style Sleepers, and understand the concept. This would certainly lower the "cost of entry" into expediting, but I still have questions: 1. If done correctly (DOT Specs) are these accepted by most major expediting carriers? 2. Why don't more people do...

    What's the real truth?

I see all of the posts where people are sitting for days and weeks, or that freight is really slow. At the same time, I see EVERY single carrier on this site desperately looking for more trucks, and drivers. Most are even offering sign on bonuses. I also see some drivers that are running their...

    Working the numbers and confused

Gregg, I have finally gotten to the point that I can "make the numbers work!! I also well understand that I would be a contractor and that ALL costs, taxes, and all other costs are on me. that's part of being a contractor. Not sure why anyone would think there is BIG money in expediting, but...

    Solo S/T O/O ???

How many of you guys/women are "successful" Solo S/T O/O?? Can it be done?? I know that the team is a better arrangement because of long loads. Also know that solo is limited to 500-600 mile runs, but 5 or 6 of those a week would be 2500-3000 miles, which wouldn't be a bad week, if you could...

    FlexLease financial????

Does anyone know about or have experience with FlexLease Financial?? In looking over their website they seem to have a lot of inventory in "Expediter Straight Trucks" My concern is either they wrote a lot of "bad deals" or they have "shafted" a lot of people. They seem to have inventory with...

Max Acceptable S/T truck age to carriers

Continuing my education....... What is the Max acceptable truck age for S/T by most carriers? In recruiting "packets" that I have from several companies and from discussions with several regarding C/V, the answer is 10. Never asked the question regarding S/T. Yes....I could ask each of the...

    Best ST box size??

Probably will reduce headcount of drivers, and push driver demand up, along with freight rates.

    Best ST box size??

Well...........This has certainly opened a "spirited discussion". That was not my original intent, but it is interesting getting everyone's view, and the DATA for my "continuing education". If any one runs across another $11k expedite truck, I'm interested. Like I said before, start-up costs...

    Best ST box size??

Layoutshoooter.....thank you Sir. More really helpful data. As you are running a reefer, I assume (may be making an A$$ out of me) that you also are hauling "specialized" expedite freight. My thought was possibly a used tractor with sleeper with frame stretch and 16'-18' box all in an effort...

    Best ST box size??

Thanks jjoerger for your response post. That's the kind of Data that I'm looking for!! I won't argue that 16' reefer may be a "specialty load hauler". I was just using that as an example. Data is the kind of stuff that business decisions are built on, and yours is very helpful. What's...

    Best ST box size??

Lots of "interesting" comments, and I thank you for all of them! Now what I really need is DATA. Of you (men and women) that are running 20'and 22' boxes, what percentage of your runs are with the box "full"? One run in 200- .05%, one in 100 - 1% or one in 10 - 10%? I see that Phil and Diane...
