    FedEx or Panther

Now, OVM, why would you think Cheri or I would slap you?? Did you forget, Jim and I know longer work for Panther?:p Besides you are pretty close to the truth on what you said but if you would like for me to slap you, I will! And I am sure I can get Cheri in on it too!:D:D

Where is the best place to call home to be near the frieght lanes?

I think, between Broom and Greg, they have the right idea. Maybe you should consider renting, when you 1st get into this business, and take some time to travel a little to decide which area you like the best. Me personally, I would love to live in S Carolina or Alabama - they do not get very...

    Constant Sitting.

Don't go to the Pilot on 285, it is not safe, day or night. We sat there once and will never do it again. As far as the other Pilot, we can not say what type of area that is, never been there but then again, we do all our business at the J's: fueling, shower's, discount on meals and WiFi. So...

    Take it or Leave it

"Think of it like this.... what information would YOU give or what THINGS would YOU tell a relative/family member to ask a recruiter? what carriers would you not recommend? I know each situation is different, but there can only be so many open-ended answers. Sorry about the rant but ....how...

    Advice

Ange, Why don't you try calling some of the different expediting companies and speak to the recruiter's, they would be able to answer all your questions. They should also be able to tell you if there are any fleet owner's looking for drivers. Best of luck!

    Why Do You Go Home?

You are right, that going home gives you a safe parking spot but it is a lot more than that. Going home gives some a feeling of belonging, that this is where they are meant to be - maybe they don't need to be there all the time but it is nice to have a sense of belonging and a place to call...

    Why Do You Go Home?

Count us in!! We would love to take a jaunt with you guys!:D:D Jim is always looking for a reason to ride. Now, back on subject: We go home for many reasons. I think the main reason is to see family and our dogs. (I really miss our dogs when we are gone) I come from a large family (8 siblings)...

    miles

<<<I suspect the other part of the inquiry relates to the labeling of the trucks as 1 year old with 250k. That is very high miles even for a team. My guess is those are trucks that were first of the batch and therefore are 2 years old for all practical purposes even though by model year they are...

If you turn down loads ,will your company fire you

RE: If you turn down loads ,will your company fire <<<The shipper has no concern about how far a driver has to deadhead to the load, whether or not the driver needs a load goes toward home, or whether or not the driver feels entitled to team loads, loads that fit a solo driver's log book, or...

    EO Graduate

Here is one piece of advice you can use right from the start -STAY AWAY FROM ANYONE WITH A NEGATIVE ATTITUDE ABOUT EXPEDITING!!! When we 1st started with Panther, we met a team and ended up spending the whole weekend with them. We had a great time and learned alot from them, even though they...

    We're finally here!

Welcome aboard!! Hope you and the hubby enjoy working with us. We have been with Panther 3 years this month and, for the most part, have enjoyed it. If we can be of any help, let us know. By the way, great run!!

    New Purchaser

<<We had a different experience with Jon Mosier as first time truck buyers. We found that Middle Georgia worked with us the best. First time truck buyers have a little rougher time I believe whit the dealers as you are not sure what you are doing. We found most dealers didn't really want to give...

    New Purchaser

Have to agree with Leo and Dave, give Jon a call. We bought our 1st truck from him and when we were ready to trade that on a new one, we went right back to Jon. He was a great help to us on both purchases.

    To Fleet Owners

Thanks for the compliment! My husband and I have tossed this idea around for the last six months and we made a list of the pro's and con's of owning more than one truck. Yes, it would be nice to own multiple trucks but our biggest fear was finding reliable drivers that would take care of our...

    To Fleet Owners

Thanks for the input. We were told the same thing from a fleet owner, to have at least 3 trucks, in case 2 should be in the shop at the same time. Maybe we will just keep saving for awhile and see if things are going to even out a little before jumping into adding on. I hate the thought of...

    To Fleet Owners

I am sure this question has been asked somewhere along the line but I have not come across it as of yet. We would like to buy another truck and put a team in it. We have been in the business 2 1/2 years and started out in a used truck, then last June, we traded our old turck and purchased a...
