    Hino "D" unit

I like my hino's and have had good luck with them. The new ones that have the emmissions system on them are a pain and tend to have injector problems. My older hinos get 9-12 MPG and seem to have lots of power for heavy loads & hills. My '08's and newer are getting between 8-10 MPG but still...

    My Hino Nightmare

I own 10 of those great HINO's and only 1 is what I call a 'problem' truck. It's an '08 and has had everything under the sun replaced under the hood several times. The rest of my HINO's have been great with very litle break downs or problems.

Hino trucks..Panther said to get a Freightliner instead

I own 10 HINOs and am adding 5 more to my fleet. The only problem I have with them is that they are hard starting when the temp drops to 20 or lower. I also have one of my 08's that has had alot of problems with the DPR system. The rest have been great and have had little or no problems.

    I think they were ALLIANCE 1100 cca's.

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

At one point, I thought it was the 'junk' batteries that came with the truck. I changed them out & put marine batteries in all the trucks. Didn't seem to make any difference.

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

Great suggestion but unfortunately I've found that even my brand new HINO's have the same starting problem when it gets real cold out. It seems to be one of the 'bugs' that toyota needs to get out and make better.

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

Normally, the warranty on these HINO's are 3 yr unlimited mile warranty...which is why I own them. You can call a HINO dealer & give them the VIN # on your truck and ask them to look up the warranty for you. They'll be able to give you a list of what warranty is left on which part. For...

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

These HINO's tend to be cold blooded. When the temp gets down to 20 or lower, they tend to have a hard time starting if they're not plugged in or in a warm garage. It does help tremendously to keep the diesel fuel additives in the fuel. For some reason, this helps the trucks to start easier when...

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

I have WEBASTO heaters in the sleepers in some of my trucks. Boy, do they ever work great! Never thought to look to see if WEBASTO had a system to heat the engine. THANKS for the suggestion!

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

If your truck is still under warranty, they can NOT charge you to come jump start it, regardless if it's plugged in or not. I called HINO to come jump start my trucks several times last winter when my guys 'forgot' to plug them in when they were either home or in a motel. Never got charged...

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

Calling the roadside service works BUT most of the time, the roadside service truck takes at least an hour to show up. I've had to call them several times, somtimes when one of my trucks were under a load, and the roadside people are never quick. It all depends on where you are at the time, just...

UUUhhhhh, DAKOTA, are you agreeing that I need my beauty rest or agreeing about getting up every 2 hours to start the truck ? :) :)

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

I have 10 of those HINO's and have not experienced any of the problems you mentioned except for the starting during real cold temperatures. Unfortunately the only things I found to do were to: 1. Scout out a power source and keep the truck plugged in 2. Keep the truck running (getting up...

    HINO's

I have a portable generator. I've found that APU's are too expensive for what use you get out of them and have too much maintenance. I only keep a truck for 3 yrs...... so for me, paying all that $$$$ for an APU is not worth it.

    HINO's

I have a question for all of you who have the new 2008 and newer HINO's with the DPR emission system: What do you do to run power for the sleeper? Do you have an APU? Do you have a portable generator? Do you idle? With these new systems on these trucks, too much idling will blow all the...

    08 Hino fuel milge ???

We have a 2008 HINO that's a 6 speed. It gets decent MPG, around 8MPG. Our lead driver didn't like the truck and thought it got aweful fuel mileage, but he also had a lead foot which can greatly affect the MPG in any vehicle. We actually don't see much difference between our '08 and our 05's and...

    2006 Hino

I have several of the 6 speed HINO's and absolutely love them. They are holding up great and haven't had anything seriously go wrong with them. Fantastic warranty too. Don't know anything about the automatics: sorry!

    Question for Hino Owners

We own several Hino's and don't have a problem with power going up hills. In fact, my Hino's have more power than my Sterling ever thought of having.
