Class 8 owners how's your mileage?

On the subject of cost per mile... Last year (I think) Overdrive had an article about cost's, and they divided them up into 4 or 5 catagories. Fuel = 39% Profit = 36% Truck payment = 14% and the remaining 11% was for Lic, Ins, Maint. etc. In the catagory of fuel, How many of you (especially...

    Super D unit

If you go to a single axel trailer wouldn't that defet the reason for the longer trailer? I know - longer trailer means more freight but shouldn't it mean heavyer freight (if avalible) also? If you have a single axel would you have to put dollies on the back?

    Super D unit

This thread is where I'm going with the thread on "turning radius". A KW K100 with 170" WB hooked to a 28' trailer would be about 41'. Add the extra feet for a 30' or 32' or 36' and you can still drop and go through Micky D's drive through. My next question though is how stable is a short...

    Turning circle radius

Does anyone know what tractor would have the best turning radius? Somewhere on here something was said about the T600 haveing a tight radius, and it seems like I read that the Volvo does to. So if you had a Volvo, KW T600, Argosey, Int. 9800 CEO and a KW K100E all with the same wheelbase (165"...

    Nitrogen

Maybe this is the time to use the ATT temp. and Pressure caps that they had at the expo in July. $520 is a bit much but they can be passed on to other trucks when you buy another one. You never have to loose pressure by testing though.

    Removing signs

Thanks to all. Terry, do you think the 2500# did the trick or could it be a lighter pressure? I've got a 'lectric Pressure washer that only puts out about 1000#. I'll try that. Maybe I should stick the inlet hose into a bottle of Coke and speed things up. Thanks again to all.:9

    Removing signs

I know there was a post here about the best way to take the glue off of your truck after you get signs off but I can't find it. Could anyone tell me what the best way was on that post or anyother one? Hopefully it will be an expencive way. Thanks for the help. t.

    C and D units, please...

Could I get a kind of percentage of the amount of space your loads take up? IOW, of the loads that you've put on your C or D unit, how many would fit in a: 14' 16' 18' 20' 22' 24' box? Not worried about the heigth, width or weight, just the length. Thanks t.

KW: Is your unit a standard sleeper unit? Or do you have an aftermarket sleeper added to a day cab? If it's a standard sleeper how long is it? Where did you put your tandem wheels in relation to the 24' box? I've been looking at some that have the tandem set about 1'-0" back of the...

    Cost of Truck

I've been thinking about the cost involved in "a" truck, and how to put that into a budget. I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb figure. Like say $2000.00 If your truck payment is $1000.00 Rebuild engine in 4 years $275.00 Tires in 2 years, $150.00 Transmission in 5 years, $100.00...

    TAG axle

I've been talking to people about this same subject lately and I get the same answer from people that have the tag or pusher axle on... They say the next time they will go with a tandem set-up. The main reason being stability in all load conditions. t.
