Your right on.....and why the Yamaha 2000/2400 peak with 1.6 gal tank is the front runner. It's double the money though.....:( But! If we don't have to worry about fuel transfer, cutting for window unit, adding front or rear hitch, or filling every 4 hours.....that's a lot of conundrum solved...

    Generator Mind Blast

But that's the point. The Honda will not run the 8000 Portable. The 600.00 Honeywell, will. Honda and Yamaha 1600's are only being considered, if you go with 5000 window unit?

Actually, I liked the 8000 BTU portable. It takes up little room, one builds a "sleeve" for it to ride in, and the unit does pretty well overall. KY-80 Soleus 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner With R-410A Refrigerant Time consideration is at play here, because we need the van insulated (more...

. That can't be the 2000i...at 1600 watt? If so, I need to rethink here. :D

    Generator Mind Blast

That's the type set up, whereby one can get by with the 1600 Honda (I prefer the Yamaha, due to footprint) and would seem to be fine for sleeping area, which I plan to cordon off. I believe either generator would run a 6000 BTU window unit? That's a nice setup, and do you run some kind of fuel...

Can you expand on that? Does the 5000, I assume window air unit (WAU) provide adequate coverage? What's the set up?

    Generator Mind Blast

Last summer we ran a 2000/2200 (peak) Honeywell for an 8000 BTU Portable Air unit. Setup worked fine, but was not happy with the run time of 4 hours. This combo cycled and ran well on Eco mode....though she kicked up quite often during cycling/compressor running. Cost? 275.00 for the 8000 BTU...

    Happy With GMC 4.8

Love that SRW. GM really, really needs to get in the game here. Best gas engines on the market....yet they don't market them in the Unicell, per say? I mean, even the GM gal I'm talking with is having a headache rounding up information. Good grief. ;)

    E track and floor

Being Winter, and in a hurry, I had people at a trailer utility place install floor and E-trac. It was one sloppy job, and will all have to be redone this summer. If you can, DIY, ask questions, and save some money. I may as well have taken 300.00 out to the back yard and burned it. It'll be a...

Question for new GM Van owners.

With limited experience, I'll throw my hat into the ring and say.....anything over a 2500 Extended would be the 6.0 for me. The 4.8 has proven a fine motor (to say the least) but anything over 2000 pounds is going to drop it from around 18 mpg, to around 16 mpg. On steep grades, the 4.8 will...

    Dodge Promaster

Trivial as it may seem, this guy needs tilt wheel. The only thing bringing me back to the Promaster, is that excellent freight area design. Totally disliked the Sprinter to that regard, and it's top heavy ways. Ford had better release one heck of a vehicle, since they can't seem to get it...

    Dodge Promaster

How's she feel in the seat? Comfortable, tolerable, not so good? As stated before, I felt a little cramped in the one with bulkhead. Not a huge guy, or that heavy....and could not set the seat back all the way, due to the bulkhead. Got room to stretch that right leg out, once in a while...

    Happy With GMC 4.8

Your right, and I know you asked the question before. Would need addressing for sure....otherwise your just talking driver ease of entry. Not worth the approx 3 grand. Got the van, threw my stuff in, and started running, and have yet to measure the width. Had little luck in catching the door kit...

The automatic is geared near perfect, far as I can tell. Not real sure on the axle ratio. What are the choices. I know the place where I got the first oil change printed me out some specs.

greasytshirt Know just enough about mechanics to slightly understand what took place here, and found nothing on the website which would indicate promotion of that motor. Neither has one person on this forum stepped up to announce the 4.8 as less than stellar. Thanks for posting, and won't...

    Happy With GMC 4.8

Murraycroexp Found this one over on Staten Island. It already had the high top, and the big reason I gave asking price. They near have to sell it as a 2011 GMC 2500 Extended...so basically, the HT was free. (around 2500.00 if you go to do it yourself) It had 33,000 miles, but even with that...

I'm running the Mobile 15000 Synthetic and hope to get in the 400,000 range at minimum. She sits at 45,000 right now. Since I drive pretty moderate, hope to hit your figures. That would be nice.

Took your advice for purchase....and not looking back. :) Nice thing about the GMC, it has one pleased enough to go ahead and add some extra's. Decided not to add the slow drain battery, it's not needed. Generator will run the air unit this summer, while the 750W inverter will charge the...

    Happy With GMC 4.8

Pleasantly surprised with the extended cargo from GMC/Chevy. Not sure if one can believe the computer....but this motor is getting more than decent mileage, along with adequate power. Checking manual calculations on mpg, tells me the computer is pretty darn close. Feathering the gas on grades...

    Inverter Generator

That Honeywell (really a sister to the Generac) ran an 8000BTU portable air unit in Laredo....all day/night long. Wanted the Yamaha, but geared down for that unit, while never disappointed. It peaks at 2100 and ran the air unit on Eco without a hiccup. Only thing I would consider a drawback, was...
