Brand new to expedite/ looking to hire driver what is a fair pay?

I just put a driver into my CV and I pay him a 65/35 but I give him the extras FSC, Tolls, DH etc etc. I pay for repairs to the van. But I go in half on the hotel room if it breaks down. If you're planning on doing a contract make sure to include things like where the driver is to leave the...

New Driver - Who to Drive For??

Always make sure the owner has a contract up front waiting for you to sign and read it carefully. I've found that driving a Sprinter is easier on fuel and thus makes it easier to save money vs a cargo van which gets 15.5-17 mpg depending on what you drive compared to a Sprinter getting 22-26...

Are there any companys that give u more than one load??????????

Yeah, I did a double load once and got paid for two loads when with Load 1. Also happened with Panther also. 1 load going to Dallas, TX and 1 going to Laredo. Both loads picked up near Canton, OH. Posted with my Droid EO Forum App

    finding a fleet owner

If you don't mind driving a cargo van for a while. I found a good fleet owner by talking to drivers at truckstops and got into a Sprinter driving for someone. I am actually making more money now than when I owned my van. Or try giving Blair Enterprises a call. I believe there is another...

    Good Mid-Size Carriers For Beginner

I'm pretty happy at Express-1. It's a lot better since I made the switch from owning my cargo van to driving for someone. There seems to be a lot more freight opportunities for a Sprinter at this company Posted with my Droid EO Forum App

Under 26,000 lb Straight with Hydraulic brakes CDL or no CDL?

Yes, I am required to log because I am traveling more than 100 miles from the house. I have a logs refresher class tomorrow (even tho I don't need it.) And I had the safety dept here at E1 verify that I don't need a cdl because it is a 24' box truck with a 60" sleeper, but it has hydraulic...

Under 26,000 lb Straight with Hydraulic brakes CDL or no CDL?

So my question is do you need a cdl or not to drive a straight truck that is under 26,000 lbs with hydraulic brakes? Also, do you need a chauffer's liscence to drive a Sprinter van. I am from Ohio, so I tried to contact the Ohio driver's liscence exam station which (of course) is closed today...

    advice sought on expediting

Things haven't been that great this year driving a cargo van. Last year was a real bust with the high fuel prices. I grossed 61K last year, but with high fuel prices i may have netted around 20. Lots of dh (deadhead) also with other folks waiting around for loads. Can't really complain...

    Panther Orientation

<<<<Was glad to live not far from Orientation. Mine was in January. I started out driving for a fleet owner and I could drive home after orientation. I lived in Salem so my drive to and from was about an hour and fifteen minutes each way. If I remember it was "really" cold.... Most of...

    Let's Talk Deadheading home!

Well, it was way back in 1994. It was definitely hot. Guess I'll have to check the records for the hottest day of 1994 at Fort Sill, but I can't remember the exact temp. The drill seargents wouldn't let us do anything strenuous that day b/c of a risk of dehydration. that was the hottest temps...

    Let's Talk Deadheading home!

Ahh....Did my basic training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. One of the hottest days I can remember it was 128F. Did my basic from June to October. Hottest time of the year. When I left Cleveland Hopkins the temp was 72 and it was stormy. When I got to Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City it was 90F...

Yep, I didn't sit there. Found that to be a real bad area. Went to the J in Blacksburg, SC didn't bother with the Atlanta board. Thanks for the help tho I'll remember it next time I go down there. Hope I get something here as I have had my first out since Friday.

What are the best areas for freight?

I see that you have said that you were sitting in Milford, Ct. For me, that's a great place to get frieght out of b/c not many drivers like going to that area because of ie: tolls, traffic, whatever. I love that area and have gotten a few loads out of Hartford, Ct. I drive for Panther tho...
