    Everybody getting paid?

Regarding the slow pay situation. It's important to understand that this Country and its industries have always relied on the commercial money markets. This all happens behind the scenes so it isn't noticeable to the average joe. About two years ago the commercial money mkt started to dry up...

    Cheerleader

Maybe some truth here.. given the fact that fedex has umteen class actions against them from O/O contractors. I don't think any of them are on behalf of their CC division.. yet.

    The Ice Moveth!

Yepper.. in the spring when they move into the shallows (to spawn) believe me having a 9'.6" rod does come in handy. Be safe on the road. Blessings, dave

    The Ice Moveth!

When I first moved to central texas I wasn't use to the clear water here it took me a while to learn how to catch fish in clear water and yes even worse in the winter when they become even more line shy. I eventually got down to using 2-4LB test then one day a friend turned me on to a fly-rod...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

"We expect people at FedEx to treat us fairly, pay us on time and hold up their end of the contractor/carrier relationship in a professional way that helps both parties succeed." That pretty much says it in a nutshell. That's all anyone could ask for and/or expect in a partnership. As...

    Is this normal?

Only gone 30 days? and for van driver? hmm that don't sound right at all. As for the drug screens my carrier treated my cargo van drivers the same as they did my Cube vans that were commercial status. I always assumed it was insurance as opposed to DOT for the cargo vans. My wierdest...

    The Ice Moveth!

Did you ever catch fish to big to come thru that little hole? One more dumb question.. how does the ice do on your line? Let me refrase that.. do you have to use higher test line to deal with the ice "edges of the hole" while your fighting the fish?

    The Ice Moveth!

All sounds kinda scary to a southern boy.. Of course a 1/4 inch of ice means 90% of us can't get the truck outta the driveway. I love that "Ice truckers" show but again, kinda scary. My grandfather did some quide work (Bass) after he retired. He always said those northeners come down here...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

I have seen different figures quoted by different sources, some of them line-haul carriers. Depending on the source, it costs somewhere between $3,000 to $7,000 to recruit a new truck into a fleet. So the cost of increasing the fleet size by 10 trucks would be $30,000 to $70,000. Adding 100...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

"Texpress offers a summary. In matters like this I suggest that there will always be more thinking to do once you get to the point where a summary is possible. Expediting is an open-ended business where yesterday's events, decisions and results may be a good guide for today's, and or may or may...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

Thanks moose, No I'm just looking at a cargo van at the "surface level". <<-new word for dave) I'd go as far as to say that all the truck toys in the world wont help if you don't have freight. Another view would be that having all the toys gives me more opportunities to get freight. This...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

Great thread for a new guy. When you cut through all the "towing the company line", the subject matter has been well represented from several different point of fews. But we seem to be getting redundant so lets recap.. 1. There's always someone that will haul cheap freight, IF it may take...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

This is a good thread. I was afraid the "Advice Please" thread might be the norm. This thread has some good info for someone looking for a carrier or even some new guy who was thinking about just getting their authority and trying to make it off the boards, hypothetically speaking of course :o...

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

Yep.. that's the Fedex I know, all to well. I'm glad if the "Fred Smith" system works for you guys and I hope/pray that it continues to work for you but at the end of the day your "partnership" is one sided in favor of Fedex and believe me they will show their true colors. I do not care if...

    Make sure it's paid for

I wonder what would happen if the new owner goes down and files for a lost title? I wonder if they would pick up the car lien? In Real Estate there's title insurance. Might be something to think about, specially if you're buying a $100,00 dollar truck
