    surviving

I hate to ask this, question, but are yall able to make it with these crazy fuel prices. I just had to make some fairly "drastic" changes to my fleet due fact that the company I work for is starting to scale back thier operation due to the "projected" fuel prices in the coming months. I tried...

    Trk won't turn off

this suggestion is really a risky, but if you need to shut down the engine, take the intake tube off the turbo and use a piece of ply wood or thick plastic container and push it up to the turbo intake housing, sealing off the intake. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!!! DO NOT USE YOUR HANDS TO SEAL THE...

    load boards

yeah, know what you mean, but just asking because I see those advertisments in fleet owner, and say you had a long dead head and you needed to generate a few extra bucks, are these boards factual, or purely fictional. And ya'll are right, some of the rates are realy bogus, like hauling a TL...

    ultrashifts?

Just curious about these transmissions, as far as their reliablity in the real world of non stop trucking. I am no stanger to these automated manuals, having come from the high end automotive repair world and into the fleet world, but just how reliable are these transmissions with a DDS60 or...

    Spark Plugs

The stock plugs are iridium, platnum is good, but iridium is best. I have a fleet of 3500 cutaways with 6.0, and there is is a noticable differance between the two. Stay away from those bosch plugs, very poor product, horrible gas milage, no power. NGK or Denso are your best bet

    Is it worth it?

yeah, thats what I am looking for, no boss constanlty over my shoulder looking for stuff to write my up for, I hate dealing with the BS corporate formalities that make no sense, and at times, dont even apply to me, and I hate the fact that my company constantly employs people who are ill...

    which engines?

My main question was which engine could go the longest without any major failures, such as injector failures, or any realy severe electronic glitches putting the vehicle out of service for days, given that the service work was done at or before service intervals.

    miles

exactly. Seeing these trucks that are one year old and have more than 250k miles on them got me wondering, is it possilble to run this many miles per year and still have some sort of profit at the end of the year. The last poster stating that his truck was loaded for 78 percent of the time is...

    which engines?

Just wondering which engines were the most reliable. Alot of the old truckers that work for us swear by the series 60, but the rest of the fleet manager world curses it. Just wanting to know which engine is the most reliable out of MB, detroit, CAT, cummins, etc.

    Is it worth it?

hello to all, I am in the same boat as another previous poster about becoming a hot shotter my self and eventually buying several trucks. I currently work in the transpot field, expediting people(medical transport) and it is really starting to have its woes and I was thinking of switching my...
