South Carolina: possible to both obey the speed limit & impede traffic

Yep when I read it, it seemed the trooper did not mind the people cruising between 70-75 in the 60. What does that say about the law?? I have never been pulled over in SC. and would be unhappy for being pulled over for doing 58-60 which is my cruising speed, in the right lane of course. I...

    Question on Logging & EOBR

I have talked to a couple mega fleet T/T drivers and they said the shipper info pops up on there log book all they have to do is enter a BOL# and commodity. Don't know why the fed has does not do this as it would be easy software programming.

    T&K

Most broker agreements state NO DOUBLE BROKERING. But some carriers just want to break the rules to make a couple extra $$. Some get caught and the org shipper/broker will no longer use that carrier, wish they would get caught more often if you ask me. Then you have the carriers who have...

    MPG gas vs diesel

Then the added cost of DEF and the price increase for the diesel emission crap when you buy a new unit. Gas units are winning with the FSC based on diesel when you factor all this in. I think GM wants close to 10k this year just for the Diesel option.

    Info update on roadshredder

Just a suggestion but my 02 Chevy had sealed beams and I stored a spare light (in the box) under the hood between the battery and the evap box. Fit there perfectly and never gave me a problem. I get what you are saying about no room in cab area. I just don't want to see ya get pulled over...

    Info update on roadshredder

Cableguy will learn when he gets a ticket for defective equipment. I have been pulled over (many years ago) in a T/T in the middle of the day for a headlight out (it was raining) and the officer said if I can change it now I won't write ya a ticket. I carry 2 high and 2 low beams plus spares...

    little truck solutions

Phil you know the answer, some of these small carriers do not know how to price themselves and they bid way to cheap on the freight. Or they get tired of hearing drivers complain and bid cheap to get them rolling. Those that know how to bid on freight only get awarded the loads when the...

    Commercial Vans Survey

Great response Greg, could not of said it better myself. Those that run for no money do not have the money to by a new unit every 3 years. Maybe some of you drivers/owners (ALL SIZE UNITS) should think of that next time before accepting substandard rates.

    OTR to Expediter??

No problem... And I was not directing that last paragraph at you, it was more of a soap box thing:D This is why: I just had a run in yesterday with a solo straight truck driver that is leased to a small carrier out of Jackson, MI. tell me that he just ran direct from Eagle Pass, TX. to...

    Canada PARS Stickers

Ok you are just using old labels as U.S. customs does not use the wand on PAPS labels since 2009. You do not have to use paps labels. The number on the label is what you are giving the broker and then writing on the cover sheet. I make my own manifest number up as PAPS labels are a waste of...

    Canada PARS Stickers

How do you use PAPS. The U.S customs have been using the A.C.E manifest system for well over a year now. You are told not to put PAPS labels on the cover sheet or on the BOL and proforma invoice. When was the last time you crossed on PAPS labels alone with no cover sheet??

    OTR to Expediter??

Explain!! You can only go so far legally on your log book. Solo drivers at any company that use there log book legally will be capped the same. Or are you saying that some small/medium size carriers look the other way and let you run the load then YOU figure out how to make it look...

    OTR to Expediter??

I see you have a year in maybe it is time to look for a better carrier, if your current one does not float your boat. Hitting the one year mark OTR is no easy task and your chances of getting a better job increase. By the time you get 2 years in OTR your chances of working for or leasing to a...

    OTR to Expediter??

I would stay OTR, unless you want to team in a straight truck. I left OTR ten years ago and it was great for the first 3 or 4 years. Now I wish I had never left. If I had stayed I would have 14 years in OTR. I have gotten really lazy since I went O/O in a van and my health and wallet...

    Canada PARS Stickers

I am thinking they are not leased on drivers, because one simple call to there carrier they would have a answer. They are probably those that went independent and think they just need a PARS sticker to go to Canada. They are also the ones that lower the cross border freight rates (when they...

Rims on a van and buisness?

Get them powder coated then clear coated, I am having mine down by one of my customers in Poughkeepsie, NY. They specialize in military coatings for corrosion resistance, heat load and friction reduction. Ain't cheap but it is less than buying 4 new rims and these will out last most fancy...

    Express-1 Straight Truck rate increase!!!!

Shame people will run for that in a Str8. Probably had to bump it up so they don't continue to loss contractors. Aren't sprinters making that kind of money over at load one?? Just some food for thought.

Would you pay $20.00 a week for Ez Pass and Pre Pass.

I have I-Pass, TxTag and 407ETR so as you can see I believe in non stop tolling. I would only pay for Prepass if I was leased to a carrier that had a good safety record. If they had a bad safety record there is no way I would spend money to possibly be red lighted more.
