    Any idea who this is??

And the rates are low because the carriers have no trouble finding people to haul cheap freight.

Part 3 Final: Should You run for Multiple Carriers?

When I started in 2006 I was charging a lot less than today. I raise my rate every year on Jan 1st and this year it went up more than normal. When I say $2.00 a mile that includes a hefty FSC. And yes these shippers know of companies like Panther and FedEx but I get the runs because I am a...

Part 3 Final: Should You run for Multiple Carriers?

What you write here is true but there is one business model you overlooked and that is the one I use. You see I work exclusively with shippers. No brokers , partner carrier or Sylectus crap for me. By doing it this way I can make over $2.00 a mile on every load. I have a small customer base...

Cargo vans/Sprinters not welcome at Flying J in Houston

I got two Dodge vans. The first one I bought was a 2000 and I liked it so much I bought a 2001 to replace it. The 2000 is now a backup just in case I need one.

Cargo vans/Sprinters not welcome at Flying J in Houston

No you can't but I can. It's an old Dodge window van that was cheap to buy, cheap to insure, very dependable and make me a lot of money. It doesn't have any markings on it and none of my customers care that there are no markings on it. There main concern is that their freight is hauled safely...

Cargo vans/Sprinters not welcome at Flying J in Houston

Any vehicle 10,000 lbs and under is not required to have any markings. As far as professionalism goes take a good look at some of the junk vans cruising the highways with 5 star carrier stickers plastered on them.

    Insurance question

Then that would mean that the cost is going up not only on O/Os but will also rise on carriers too. Could be Progressive is pricing themselves right out of the market.

    Insurance question

A simple solution to this may be these O/Os just getting there own authority and be classified as a carrier. Then they would be running under one MC number, there own, instead of multi MC numbers. Then the carriers they are running for would become partner carriers and they would be operating...

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

You hit the nail on the head with that statement and I couldn't agree more.

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

So how do you know who is under insured? My operating authority requires me to maintain a policy with $300,000 primary liability. Some on here claim you need no operating authority to expedite on your own in a van so how how would you know how much insurance they are required to have.

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

It's just a new concept to expediting and after some time it may replace the exclusive use concept for vans and sprinters. Might be a good change but only time will tell.

    Panther rates???

Someone hauling with their own authority would be a carrier and would be a partner carrier with Panther. A contract driver would be someone with an exclusive use contract with Panther and hauling under Panthers authority. These drivers would be called Panther Partners.

    Carrier cutting rates

Disappearing posts about Load One bleeding money doesn't surprise me at all.

    Panther rates???

I believe that I read on here that in the early days of expediting most drivers were just using this as a second income Didn't Roberts Express have a problem at one time with van drivers that just took the winter off instead of driving in bad weather?

    Panther rates???

Panther Partners is nothing more than talk to make you feel good about being leased to them. They want you to think your a "business partner" but in reality your just a tool they use to make money.

    Progressive raising rates

So your sayin a carrier with 300 vans, straight trucks and tractors and some drivers with speeding tickets and logbook violations should be able to buy insurance cheaper than someone like me with one van and a perfect driving record. When you break the carriers policy cost down to a per unit...

Walmart has overhead that increases their costs too.

    Progressive raising rates

I've read of many times how Walmart, with a large overhead, comes to town and drives the mom and pop stores out of business because they can't compete price wise yet we are led to believe that in the expedite business the mom and pop carriers can put a hurtin on the large branded carriers...

    Progressive raising rates

Why delete your post OVM? I read it and didn't find anything wrong with it.

    Progressive raising rates

I'm sure they do. My point is that everyone blames the small carriers for low rates when the larger carriers are more to blame.
