    2025 Locations & More..

I had no idea there ever were power outlets at the yard in Taylor, but I wondered where the port-a-john went. I figured someone trashed it and ruined it for the rest of us, so they took it away. I only used it once at night when it was freezing (and frozen) but it saved me a long walk in the...

My plan to come out and scoop up some last minute freight out of California before the tariffs hit Monday was a bust. I got something headed to Utah that will pay my gas the rest of the way home, but I have to say I'm surprised. I thought people would be trying to skirt under the deadline and be...

What happened to Fusion Transportation and Logistics?

I don't know about fusion, but I can tell you as someone who's been doing it for the last 4 years I've made less every year since I started. I would not recommend anybody to buy a van and do this. Rates are down, jobs are harder to find, and there are simply too many drivers willing to work for...

    2025 Locations & More..

Just want to say as a fellow Load One driver (o/o Transit van) I really appreciate you posting your experience here. I didn't even bother trying to work the last few weeks due to the winter storms, and I think that was probably for the best. Though my wife might disagree So fires, floods...

    2024... Locations & More

One of the more interesting parts of working for a company based out of Michigan these past few years has been seeing the Lions become good. I used to primarily see old thread bare lions gear from hardcore fans and that was about it. Now everyone has something and and everyone is excited. I...

    2024... Locations & More

Thanks for making this thread. And I'm not sure who runs this board, but I appreciate them keeping it going. I learned a lot of good info before I started driving and my entire expedited career started from a single post here. I still have to find that guy and beat him up ;) Here's to a...

    Load straps

Gotcha. My company requires a physical barrier between the freight and driver which is a good idea imo. At first I literally just had plywood attached to the pillars and it was directly behind my seat preventing much reclining at all. It worked, but was not ideal. But after hauling loads for...

    Load straps

Again this isn't what I would do now, but for my first van it worked out very well.

    Load straps

You can get E-Tracks and e-track straps at harbor freight. They aren't as good as the custom ones people are talking about here of course, but I made the floorboard of my van at Lowe's and put it together in an afternoon without a lot of expense and it's lasted more than two and a half years...

Just drove back empty from CA to OK after days of sitting for about a week

I get your drift, but I don't think I'll ever work that way.

Just drove back empty from CA to OK after days of sitting for about a week

I have family in Pasadena so I had a nice visit, but my "career" is slowly becoming my hobby. Whoever is taking loads out of Los Angeles for .69 cents a mile needs better math skills...

Why are Cargo/Sprinter van owner/operator doing loads cheap as 60 cents a mile

How low of a rate does it get when it gets "bad" historically speaking? Have you guys seen it 50 cents? Lower? I am getting loads just shorter distances and lower rates, but still a working wage. In my previous field (oil) our jobs just stopped completely rather than become low paying and the...

Why are Cargo/Sprinter van owner/operator doing loads cheap as 60 cents a mile

I'm so glad to see other people wondering the same thing I was. This week I saw multiple jobs offered for as low as .63 cents a mile. I've only been doing this a little over 2 years so I'm still learning, but that is just ludicrous to me to even consider working that cheap.

Things getting slow for anyone else?

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. 700k miles wow, I was already looking and I'm only at 290k this year. Hopefully we both get busier soon.

Things getting slow for anyone else?

fingers crossed this is just a crummy month. I'd hate to have to go back to the "stability" of the oil field :)

Things getting slow for anyone else?

After a busy Jan/Feb, things seem to have slowed down for my van. In fact, the end of March was my worst week in two years. Anyone else having the same experience? Is it time to stock up on Ramen noodles? :)

Flexibility when working for a carrier

My 2 cents - I am a O/O expediter with a Transit van out of Oklahoma which is not in a freight lane for the company I work for. I have to drive home best case scenario from TX, but oftentimes from TN or MS or IL after being out more than a month as there is not a lot of options for me. Once...

Big Truck Insurance new authority NY

Have you considered just driving a sprinter van? The profit margin is at least similar and often higher than this projection monthly and you could own the vehicle outright rather than have the cost of leasing. Not to mention nowhere near the overhead. If you spend you spend 10 to make 15...

A message of Thanks during this holiday season

Just wanted to express my appreciation to all the posters who have shared their information here over the years. With knowledge sourced almost exclusively from this board, I was able to land a position with an outstanding company back in the spring. I've since put about 90,000 miles enjoying my...
