Ok… let’s try this again. My previous post was supposed to create a positive message that our industry APPREARS to be rebounding in today’s uncertain economy, and to respond to misinformation regarding A. Blair Enterprises. I’ll try again… Every company and driver in the expedited...

This is an attempt to set the record straight on some of the postings to this thread. To Blue Dragon First of all, Dave is not married to one of my daughters, and is not the “head dispatcher”. Secondly, if you were offered 70cpm, it was probably because of a glut of trucks in a particular...

Expedited drivers – a hot commodity?

I’ll try to explain a couple more points with the understanding that I do not claim to know all there is to know about our industry; NO-ONE does…furthermore what we know today is likely to change tomorrow. The expedited industry is far more complex than most of us realize. Age...

Expedited drivers – a hot commodity?

Slo-Ride… Your questions are fair and deserve a response 1. You are correct… A. Blair does not use Qualcomm for many reason that I won’t go into at this time…also know that we do not rule out that possibility in the future, but at this time it appears that the additional costs associated...

Expedited drivers – a hot commodity?

My point regarding being lucky is directly related to the owners and owner operators that have the experience to make intelligent decisions about the operation of their trucks. I understand a carrier’s need for wide coverage in the marketplace, and their use of Qualcomm technology to help them...

Expedited drivers – a hot commodity?

Greg... I beleive I included everyone~ Refer to the quote... "or those owner operators who had the foresight to see this industry as an opportunity for intelligent business people" I assume if you own and drive the truck, you would be considered an "owner operator" and...

Expedited drivers – a hot commodity?

Dave KC... Dave KC... Notice the context. The lucky ones I was referring to drive for you, x06col and other seasoned pro’s who have established their own set of rules and regulations for drivers in their trucks; rules regarding shipment acceptance, limits to deadhead mileage and many...

Expedited drivers – a hot commodity?

Throughout the first six years of this century, the experienced expedited driver was in high demand. As the wheels loosened and begin to come off the expedited industry in 2007, few of us recognized the growing disparity of trucks to loads available ratio that began just that long ago. By the...

Jeff Jensen... I have enjoyed E/O for a short period of time compared to many who have been here for years. In six months the members have awarded my efforts to assist with 40 points, and I am proud of that accomplishment. I have written letters to you, the moderators and to Lawrence...

Rich... Ateam makes a very valid point. An S corporation with only two stock holders and married at that, would be easily pierced by a competent attorney. S-corps have many advantages, but when the corp is "closely held" and prodeeds can be traced to one or two people, I would not count on...

LDB... I am not sure why these on the lot trucks are spec'd with the rear end ratios that high. Maybe most striaght trucks are used in town... but as an expediter you'll be much better off with a lower ratio. I have M2 with the MB 900 engine with a lower HP than yours (260). I spec'd them...
