    2000 isuzu NPR coolent issue

I will second that. 90% of the fluid mixtures I have seen are the result of a bad cooler.

Oreilly Auto also rents the tester. You have to buy the fluid though. Pay upfront for the tester and fluid, return the tester and get the money back, so in effect, its free.

    Sanctuary hideouts in the USA

You mean like almost every politician on the hill? Or in state govt? Or in local govt? I'd like to give some police a ticket or two also..... but then I'd be mysteriously killed.

14 defunct car brands and why they went out of business.

AMC was bought in 1987 and oddly enough the diehard Jeep 4.0 I6 was an AMC designed engine that was used in the late 60's all the way to the mid 2000's largely unchanged. I'm a nerd sorry. LOL.

    Big Truck Tranny Coolers

Just to throw it in there..... You could always add an external filter unit split from one of the trans lines. I have added them to oil systems using a 2-3 quart filter and hung it low so it catches wind. That might help reduce temps under load and not cost several hundred dollars.

Big Truck 2000 Peterbilt 330 Cat 3126, 5 speed Fuller

My 03 F650 had a 3126 and a 6 speed. While it was a total dog, you could pull a freight train. Most of the truck was gearing. Get the gearing right and you can do whatever you want, depending on your needs. Power of the 3126 comes in at 2200rpm which is just short of the redline at 2500rpm...

Big Truck 2007 387 Truck Build

The way I figure it.... If you stagger the cuts, you run the risk of welding the whole frame with a twist. As it is, the butt weld style of joint is prone to warpage. They had several cross members right at the ends of the rails in order to keep everything straight. One would think using a...

4.8 l chevy vortech motors anygood?

Both the 4.8 and the 6.0 GM engines are based on an LS block. Essentially, the are exactly the same engine on different size parts. Both have the same flaws, strengths, and electronics as far as things go. The usage is where things can get vastly different. I've seen 4.8's last a year, go...

Big Truck 2007 387 Truck Build

I went with used. Sadly I couldn't afford a completely new box and lift gate. I found a combo deal and went for it. 26' dry van, no reefer, cut down to 24 feet total including the liftgate platform. 102" wide and 97" high. So my box is like 23'?? Roll up door, you'd be surprised how hard it is...

    Big Truck Tranny Coolers

First thing I would do is pressure wash the radiator. You'd be surprised what comes out. After that, your automatic transmission lines might be too big for any normal automotive trans cooler to handle. Certain heavy truck shops carry semi specific coolers, but make sure your trans is in good...

    FL 70 help

My cousin has a 2001 Freightliner semi, not sure the model.... His gauges took 194 bulbs. His were individual gauges not a cluster. Those are easily replaceable with LED's found in most any part stores. If you can post a pic of your dash I'm sure I can find you replacement bulbs.

Big Truck 2007 387 Truck Build

This was last week. I'm working so I am not able to go into the shop and take daily pictures, but they said I could. Never been into a shop that said I could basically hang out all day and watch the progress. I'm hoping to go back tomorrow and get pictures of the first half of the frame...

Big Truck 2007 387 Truck Build

Hello all! I've already posted in the New Member section, but I wanted to show my current build in progress. My wife and I have come to the conclusion that our current vehicle, a 2003 Ford F-650 w/ 36" sleeper and 24' Box, is not enough for the work available. We have been turning down work...

Fleet Owners and Owner Operators: When Do You Replace Your Truck?

My decision was combination of money and wear and tear. My truck was about half way through the common service life of the engine, but I was pushing the load limits almost every job. I had replaced the clutch, brakes, tires, and rear springs and was worried about over doing the truck with a...

Mechanical Help me with converting a tractor to a box truck

I am currently stretching a 2007 Pete 387. The shop that is doing it for me is local to my area in N. IL. Heavy Industries, Located in Freeport, IL I'll have a tandem setup with a 26' box and liftgate when it's all said and done. Quoted anywhere between 5-7k for the job. They do all of the...

GPS What kind of Truck GPS do you use?

I have a Garmin Dezl 5". Had it for a couple years. My only complaint is that it refuses to recognize roads that are clearly marked truck route. And I cannot find a way to add the roads into the system.
