    RE: Front Spindles

had the same problem with a Ford. Compared the shoulder of a new spindle (at the parts house) against the one from the truck, there was only a .007 (7/1000) wear, but it would sure eat up the inner bearing, starting on the truck side of the bearing. New spindle cured the problem. FWIW

    GVW Vs. GVRW

CS, I can't answer your question for Ky or NY, but I run the FL60's (25,900 gvw) thru Al, Ar, Az, Ms, Fl, La, Tx, Ok, Ks, NM, Co, Wy. The only extra's I pay are to NM, which collects a mileage tax for miles run from entry to exit, *each* time I go thru the state. Usually less than $10, just...

    2004 Democrat Convention Agenda

Any chance we could get Ted Kennedy to drive Hillary home from the convention? LOL, Lawrence...I'm gonna have to plagarize you...best one-liner I've seen on the Dem convention. :D

    Election 2004

...But Rob, if ya'll don't have every other year political races, what, pray tell, do you have for arguement & entertainment??:) Rich, I picked one correctly, it gets more entertaining & difficult from here on out. The Cheney question is tough. GW wants to be tough, seen as loyal to "his"...

    Hang-outs

Blucolr...the part of Texas you're heading to is rather sparsley populated, compared to the N'eastern states. I run US287 thru there to Amarillo/Borger quite often, & don't recall ever seeing an expediter. I see most expedite trucks between Dallas/Laredo, or along I10 & I20. There is a small...

    Election 2004

Rich, I love to watch the politicians. When they are scrambling to point out their differences, is when you can see, there really *isn't* much difference between the two major parties. I read an article this am, where J McCain had addressed an hispanic group, agreeing that the illegals should...

Trump, that's a neat link, & it will direct you to their "new" laptop page, also. Lot's of info there on manufacturers. They had a Mil-spec Panasonic? with metal case & shock absorbing HD. Only $3500. (Whew) The used ones that I looked at there had decent prices, but I don't know if they will...

Yeah, I'm definitely looking at the service aspect of the new ones. I've purchased all my desktops, in years past, at the Houston MicroCenter store, for that reason. If they sell it, they repair it. I bought the Toshiba at Office Depot, on sale for $200 less, but getting service is hard to do...

    Bush Can't Win...

Not that I like GWB, but the joke reminds me of politics, today The Pope is on a visit to Washington, and President Bush takes his guest out for an afternoon on the Potomac, sailing on the Presidential yacht, the Sequoia. They're admiring the sights when, all of a sudden, the Holy Father's hat...

Thanks, TWM for the info. I have not checked into repairing the Toshiba, but might. I only use it to check load boards when on the road, read forums, some book keeping (use a Lotus spreadsheet) that is transferred to desktop & paper when I get home. I can do without it, but it is nice to have...

Thanks Lawrence..that''s what I'm looking for, experience with the brand. I'm just old fashioned, I'd have to "order" the Dell, but I like to look & feel before I put my money down, but will investigate. Rich, HP/Compaq is on my short list, as they are HQ'ed here, & I like to help the local...

OK, OK...I'm talking laptop computers!!! (*NOT* dancers) ;) Seems my 3 yr old Toshiba has bit the dust. Hard drive crash, won't recover 'cause it can't read some file or other. So, I'm in the market for a new one. I was not satisfied with the Toshiba. It didn't seem "tough" enough. Had...

    ? for the engine experts

Hate it when work calls (No I don't, work is a good thing ;) ) But crimeny, Tucson is hot. Reading the replies, Rich brings up a good point. I haven't run any Dodges since the mid 80's, but the high mileage 318 & 360's were prone to getting burned exhaust valves. If you listen to your exhaust...

    ? for the engine experts

I don't think the shop is steering you wrong on the replacement. To replace one cylinder (piston/rings, rod bearing) you must remove the head, there-by weakening the remaining three cylinders on that bank. The labor for this would be almost the same as a complete rebuild. As long as it runs...

    I'm on my way

Lawrence said "steel haulers"?? Hey, I resemble that remark..:7 just on a little truck :D Us flat-bedders get no respect :0 ' Course, I bet he meant STEER Haulers...now, showers don't do that bunch much good (yeah, I tried that, too. Grew up on a ranch) :) Seriously, congrats on passing...

How hard is it to get parts for a White/GMC tracto

RE: How hard is it to get parts for a White/GMC tr S-O, the truck was extremely reliable. I purchased it from a dealer friend, that knew what I was looking for. He bought it at an auction, and resold it to me. He made $100 from the deal. I paid $6100 in 2000. We do mostly hot-shot work, all...

How hard is it to get parts for a White/GMC tracto

RE: How hard is it to get parts for a White/GMC tr I had a '94 White/GMC/Volvo tractor, sold it last year. What few parts I ever needed (wiper motor, hose tubes) were readily available at the Volvo dealer. There are a great many of these tractors still being used by the LTL people, keeping...

    Fuel Taxes....IFTA

Arky...first, bear in mind that I never *figured* fuel taxes. I had a lady that specialized in IFTA taxes do the reports, I just sent the money. That being said, my understanding is, you report all miles driven in each state for the quarter. You report your fuel purchases & where purchased. If...

    Curiosity killed Tony!

Correct points, Starbryte, but the non-refundable filing fees are disclosed at the FMCSA site, before starting the application. There seems to be a shortage of insurance companies willing to write liability policies extending beyond the 150 mile radius, thus the higher prices. If you're going...
