    recommendtion please

Hey Dean. It's not just your carrier most likely. Every former auto worker and his brother that are living in Michigan are on a fleet with someone driving a cargo van. Besides that, automotive freight, which would be your most likely commodity coming out of MI, is almost non-existent in...

    New expedite vehicle available?

I would be calling one's supervisor, or in this case, one's "stupidvisor" to get that taken off. Someone needs a geography lesson there. Are they still hiring temps?

    E Track Length Available

Yeah, I don't think there is anything longer than 10 foot. Too hard to ship. You can butt them against each other when you install them for a "seamless" appearance. There are also end caps you can get so the edges aren't exposed. I seem to always cut myself or tear my shirt at the oddest...

Another new driver believes the Hype on expediting.

Most carriers will take something older if it's a class 8 truck. Anything beneath a class 8 is generally 4-5 years. My class 8 straight truck is a 2000 FLD, and it's just getting broken in good at 810,000 miles.

Another new driver believes the Hype on expediting.

That would be the one case. I still don't envy you if you're changing fields. The is a learning curve to being successful.

Another new driver believes the Hype on expediting.

I don't envy anyone who wants to switch to a new field right now.

50 percent hike in gas tax

Well, the "Office of the President-Elect" (when has their ever been such a thing?) held his emergency meeting with his economic advisors the other day to discuss the implementation of this gas tax, so I guess he is complete at the heart of this already. I didn't vote for him either, so I guess...

Its Termination time Get the Raid

Very common, especially in the day when you have carriers bidding on loads from NLM, Aero and Ryder before they even know if they can cover it. Three of them will post the loads within 10-15 minutes. I've even had two or three people call me to handle the same run. I tell the first, "Sorry...

    Seal on truck

Re: Special Seal RE: Seal on truck I've had seals that were to be cut under NO circumstance. I've also had seals handed to me. Probably just a technicality as no one seemed to interested in whether it was on the truck or not. It was simply listed on the bol.

    Detroit Series 60 ?

Definitely take it to a Detroit service center, and NOT a Volvo delaer in this case. Call and talk to a technician before you even drive it there. The ECM will tell if it has ever overheated. All make sure they can dyno the snot out of it for you.

    The Puppy Project

I have a full bred Shih Tzu that rides sometimes. He's full grown at 15 pounds. I suggest finding a good breeder. Choose the dog and don't let the puppy choose you. (Those are generally more dominant.) Our puppy had a litter sister who was totally a yapper, and ours wasn't. He still isn't...

How do I see Panthers' available loads?

So how many minutes does a contractor have to accept or decline a load? 15? In my world, the day is won or lost in 90 SECONDS! I can pee, calculate, and talk on the phone at the same time if I must. Twice I've lost a Panther run to the same driver. One was coming out of Hialeah, Florida...

How do I see Panthers' available loads?

BTW, if it happens at Panther, you are not alone. If something gets offered to someone ouside or inside that theoretically should have been offered to you, it happen at Tri-State, the Fed, Landstar and everywhere else.

How do I see Panthers' available loads?

Leo, I'm sure it does happen, because nothing is perfect in this world. But here's the question: There's a 500 mile up for grabs tomorrow morning. Let's say it would cost them $725 to your truck for you to do it. A partner carrier offers them $950 to do it. Now why wouldn't they want to...

    Breaking news in central FL

I guess I've been pondering whether the parents should be inverstigated as to whether they have been accessories to the murder. Or the silence of Caycee a cover up for a crime commited by HER parents. In other words, someone is covering for someone. Which way is it?

    Breaking news in central FL

Is it just me, or did the parents seem to be parading around "OJ style" trying to find the "real killer" all along, until they got the dna tests back that that was indeed hair from a dead Caylee Anthony found in the trunk of her car. So who was keeping their mouth shut about who killed the...

How do I see Panthers' available loads?

Now I would have no way of knowing if some loads were never offered to a contractor or not, but I do know this: They do use at times a thing called POWERSEARCH, which means that they offer it in house and to the "out-house" folks at the same time, usually because of the short time by which they...

    PC Miler 430 GPS

Aww, come on! Why a compass in the mirror, when you can get one of the compass balls at Wal-Mart that stick to your windshield. I actually recently bought a Mio550 Travel Companion. It's a full-fledged PDA that has a built-in GPS receiver and comes with a halfway decent software package. I...

An Ordinary Recession This is Not

I don't think they ever did it to lower the price of cars. Two reasons that do come to mind are: 1. UAW 2. Higher profits for them. As long as the automotive market does not require them to offer a less expensive car to be competitive, I guarantee that there will not be one.
