    Boycott the NFL

Nowhere did I say that ONLY [you really are too fond of caps!] the ideas of Deming [one 'm', not two] could have changed 'this' [whatever 'this' is], and management is ONLY to blame, because nothing happens until and unless they permit it.

Jailed for a 5 cent theft

It's not fuel, it's electricity, which businesses give away all the time. If he were somewhere [like a hotel lobby, conference center, airport] where he could recharge a cellphone, laptop, electric razor, why couldn't he plug in his car too? Answer: because he plugged it in outside, which is...

FAA to "check" overweight pilots for restful sleep..

I have the samr complaint: the doctor who knows me and my history doesn't do the DOT. Except I understand that is the doctor's choice, not the government's fault - a distinction you don't seem to get. If the doctors choose to skip the certification, place the blame where it belongs, please.

The Truth About Expediting in Severe Weather

When the weather outside is frightful, the only judgement that matters is the driver's. Use it responsibly, and don't delegate it to anyone else [such as a dispatcher in an office hundreds of miles away.] If you don't feel safe to drive, park it until you do. How hard is that? ;)

Jailed for a 5 cent theft

It's different because of the perception: businesses [restaurants, conference centers, hotels] and public facilities [airports, libraries] have long offered free wifi and electrical outlets to the customers. Granted, the electrical outlets are intended for small electronics, like cellphones &...

    Boycott the NFL

Cultural differences played a role [in the execs' reception of Deming, and even more in the lack of friction between labor & management], but that does nothing whatsoever to explain how Japan changed their reputation for cheap products [basically throwaways] to a reputation for reliable quality...

Jailed for a 5 cent theft

What a nice idea! As the vid showed, it doesn't cost much, so why not? At least they can [literally] see their donation being used as intended, which is more than you can say for many 'charitable' organizations.

FAA to "check" overweight pilots for restful sleep..

You know what scares the pants off me? People who don't know what they're talking about, and can't be bothered to learn. Federal approval is the same thing as having your truck approved by the carrier: nothing sinister in it at all - just CYA, as per usual. "Total control of your health care"...

FAA to "check" overweight pilots for restful sleep..

I don't know, Zorry, I think the exam is like our pretrips: if a problem occurs that could have been avoided by a proper exam, and the authorities can prove it wasn't done, there will be major liability for the examiner. Doctors understand potential liability better than insurance agents, I bet...

FAA to "check" overweight pilots for restful sleep..

It's going to make money for some, and cost money for us. I understand the reason [drivers using forged certs], but think a better approach would be to beef up the penalties significantly for the cheating drivers.

What Is Your Favorite Christmas Tune?

I can't believe none of you geezers picked this one: Gayla Peevey-I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas On The Ed Sullivan Show - YouTube Ed Sullivan was wrong, hahaha.;)

[QUOTE=moose;655363 C-U-There! Oh no - making delivery this am in Hopkinsville was as much iceroad trucking as I'm up for this week, lol. As bad as the roads are, the truckstop and customers' dock areas are even worse: they salt the area in front of the entry door, but that still leaves acres...

"Rather extensive training"? I guess that's relative: I found a dozen offers for online and/or video training of 8 hrs, for which the Doctor is credited with 8 hours of Continuing Medical Education. It may be different now, but when I was nursing, nurses were required to obtain 24 hours of CME...

    It's a Merry Christmas Month

How to make your tootsies happy in subzero temps: buy a couple packs of "Hot Hands" [little flat packs that warm when activated] and put them in your boots. Cheap and easy and lovely: warm toes. :) Me, I just wanna go to Fla, lol.

    Boycott the NFL

Yet again, you have simply ignored every question and point that refutes what you wrote, to focus on one thing, usually irrelevant, that you misunderstood to begin with. My point was that Edward Deming created a system [not JIT!] that the Big 3 snickered at, so he took it to Japan. They didn't...

Jailed for a 5 cent theft

Am I the only one who has actually asked permission to plug in my laptop in a truck stop restaurant? [The outlet wasn't exactly at the booth, lol]. This guy is just like those who plug something into an exterior outlet at any business: the outlet is there for the use of the business itself, not...

Sure, they can get you in for an overhead: theirs. ;) I let dispatch know earlier that I wouldn't mind going to Ky or Tn - right before I saw the weather report.....if I end up in Tn tomorrow, I'll holler at you, a Fri night dinner sounds nice.

    Ohioans are Rude Potty Mouths

The old reliables work just fine, lol. On the flip side, there's Audible: one of the best companies I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They're so good that I'm putting their bumpersticker on the back of my truck. Even though it says "Back off! I'm reading!" and I just know that neither...
