    Just a comment

Sometimes attempts at humor don't come across well in a forum. Particularly when the person trying to be funny can't seem to spell or construct a sentence at an early elementary school level. You did get some great responces Broom. When mine were young I had an OTR job that had me home very...

is it really that slow out here ?????

It appears that this thread became too informative for tired. Where'd he go? Joe Roman's site was loaded with the whiners. It became way too much bother sorting through the garbage to find a worth while post. At Thompson we seem to have slowed a bit after a couple of real busy months. But, not...

    Canada passports for Canada

I read an article in the Toronto Sun this week that said the President is sounding like he isn't real crazy about the idea. It also said that it would be a passport or "other secure document". Maybe a FAST card?

uShip, a real value to expediting?

Excellant point about backhaul Teacel! It seems to me the cost of operation does'nt go down just because you want to go home. I know someone who used to work for a small trucking company that also brokered loads. She had a guy walk into her office one day looking for a "backhaul" to get home...

    Canada Fast

If you have 3 trucks crossing the border, each one should have a transponder. The transponder identifies the truck and the load it's carrying if it's a FAST load. If the driver has no FAST card he can't clear freight using the FAST system. He can use PAPS and the transponder isn't needed for that.

Canada CSA, FAST, CDRP... what's what

There is no card called a CSA card. There is CDRP which is Canada only, and there is FAST which is good on either side. CSA is what the system for clearing automtive production into Canada is called and it does require barcodes. I don't think you can clear anything without either barcodes for...

    ILLEGAL TRANSPORTERS

Broompilot, I think you got it right about Scorp, incorporating, ect. I've talked to guys who really think they're protecting their assets. When you ask them who is responsible for the safe operation of their truck, they will try their best to come up with something other than the obvious...

    wants vs needs

Yes, I do sometimes get bad directions. The vast majority of the time it is easily figured out. I'm not sure about the cell phone connection, I don't think anyone would get rid of their phone because they got a GPS. I've never spent an extra penny on my phone bill because of making calls to sort...

    GPS

friscomike, it is a toy and you could live without it. Technology is a great thing, but there is a lot that can still be done as it was many, many years ago. Getting from point A to point B is one of them. Sometimes I almost feel Amish. I think I'll go party like it's 1899!

    wants vs needs

Bryan, what is Quantro Pro? theend, 10 years experience before you start? Is time travel involved? Wants are many for most, but needs should be few. Another thread discusses what a newbie might need. Of all things, a GPS unit was the first thing mentioned! Now, I am a bit old school, but one of...
