    Canada Truck Stops - Canada

My personal favorite is the Milton,ON Fifth wheel. Not because it's a great T/S but 'cause it's centrally located to most of our carrier's shippers. During the slow waits, there's plenty to do nearby. One of our favorite canadian restaurant chains is across the street.

    Autopage Beepers

Former Roberts Express folks surely remember how useful the Autopage pager connected to the QualComm was to their mobility away from the truck. For those of y'all that still have the equipment or have access to it, we have good news. These old pagers can be repaired by the Autopage company for...

    >I beleive the "big five" (tho I've never heard them called >that) would be > >FedEx, Panther, Tri-State, Conway Now, and Landstar Express >America Let me allow my bias to peek through and state the "big one" is FedEx Custom Critical. The two closest competitors, I believe, are Conway Now...

    cargo vans

If you mean $1200 gross to the truck, you should have no problem if you're with the right carrier. If you mean $1200 net, after ALL expenses, It ain't gonna happen to a solo driver, except to a very few. Diesel or gas, the price has risen proportionetly for all of us. Gasoline prices for an...

    Getting a Clue

As a 15+ year van vet, I too echo the comments of all those above. You are probably looking closer at next weeks big check than next months bigger credit statements. You are learning how to make a small fortune in expediting...start with a large fortune and deadhead yourself into poverty. I...

    Thank You!!!!!!!!!!

I join Glen in saying thanx for the thanx. We often get more out of this than many of the contributors with questions 'cause expediting, and trucking of other sorts, is not just a job, it's a lifestyle that many of us enjoy sharing with others. BTW, for anyone who received a helping hand from...

    cargo van storage

sure. Quite often you'll arrive at delivery point in the evening and have to wait til morning to unload. Or, perhaps a fri pickup and monday delivery. Or, you've got a couple of hours cushion to take a break in a rest area, a bed beats sleeping behind the wheel

    Corporate Liability

Frank: I seems to me that many small truck expediters want to incorporate for the primary reason of protecting their personal assets from exposure to liability in the event of an accident or other mishap that might cause someone to sue the corporation. A secondary reason is a small FICA tax...

Canada So I'm now a "Moderator"

Rene and I also extent a welcome hand to our new colleague. I'm pleased to hand over the "new man on the totem pole" keys to a knowledgable Canadian. Keep us posted on the next favorable change to the exchange rate.

    Canada Come on in...

Having spent much of my youth in the first Dunkin Donut shop in Quincy, Mass. I also vouch for their quality flavor. I believe it's in the use of good cream, for those of us that drink coffee regla. The beans are fresh ground and that's a plus also; although, now I think they come from India...

    Amen to this !!!

Many pleasant thoughts with FR8 SHAKER's entry; however, Gotta go along with ACE. Isolationism is not the protocol that made The USA what we are today; were we to adopt that manner of being, we'd be no better off than all of the lesser fortunate.

LIFE OF A CARGO VAN DRIVER

Hotdog: I believe the best way to learn 'the ropes' is to find an owner who will help you learn the business for a few months with the understanding that you will leave him to purchase your own truck if this is the life for you. If that is your intent then you're on your way. I suggest you...

Percentage of miles driven at night.

Welcome! We know y'all've been lurking herein so it's nice to hear from a FedEx Custom Critical hommie. We spend every bit of half or better of driving our B van during darkness. I suspect a solo tractor driver might have more daylight driving due to them getting those shorter run offers...
