They do for Mercedes vehicles. They won't release the software to the aftermarket. Nothing special about the ECM, just a computer, the software makes it work. Germany's revenge???

Unfortunately, the ECM is vehicle specific. The VIN has to be programmed in at the parts location. They have the software, the dealer doesn't. Once it gets to the dealer, the rest of the vehicle info gets programmed in. To my knowledge, Mercedes has not released the software so ECM's can be...

I've dealt with many service managers over the years both as a tech and customer. Most I wouldn't give the time of day to, but this guy shouldn't be allowed to do what you say he's doing.

I know he's a repeat customer but he's not a regular. Dodge dealers no longer sell Sprinters so they don't care if they lose the business. At least it appears that this dealer doesn't.
