"THIS COFFEE IS COLD AND THE SCONE IS STALE!! WHO DO I HAVE TO SLEEP WITH TO GET SOME HOT COFFEE AND A FRESH SCONE!! Umm, would someone just sleep with me? Please? C'mon, pretty please?"

    Hmmm just how random

That sure makes you wonder. The company I started my illustrious expediting career with was known to "randomly" pick drivers who happened to be in southeast Michigan, near the office. The thought was that this allowed them to use the clinic they used for pre-employment tests. But, that was...

    Hopefully this is Jr.'s year

Gordon past his prime? Not even close. The window for a drivers "prime" is a very big one. We're not talking soccer, football or motocross here. Jr is showing a willingness to take part in the teamwork that Hendrick is known for. But yes, when it comes down to Chase time, the list of friends...

    Oxymoron

I got a chuckle out of "pretty ugly" and "head butt" being together. Yes, I'm THAT juvenile.

Canada Work in Canada, live in US?

This post says it best. Alborada, just because OVM's experiences have been a bit different than yours doesn't make his wrong. This an argument about things that are clearly and definitely gray. (How's that for a contradiction of terms?) It's like getting pulled over for doing 10 over. One cop...

Health Insurance in the Expedited Game

I would strongly recommend BCBS. Having something that is recognized everywhere could be great peace of mind if you end up in an emergency room 1,200 miles from home. I'd rather have my BCBS card than something like "Zeke's Gettin Sick Card".

    Hey Panther cargo van drivers

Lyla, Bob says "aaarrrrff", and something about you being hot.

    question about randoms

Do you expect them to pay for your annual truck DOT inspection or bi-annual physical? It's a DOT requirement, NOT the companies.

    need advice about bolt tristate

Kudos Rlent, great post. IMO, people who get too caught up in the "no forced dispatch" thing and do everything they can to find a reason to say no will have a hard time making it. I choose to put more emphasis on "contractor" than "independent". There's nothing wrong with being a team player.

    Looks like McPain in FL

That's what I'm talkin' about Dave. The only vote I ever really felt great about was my second vote for Reagan. The rest of the time it's been the lesser of the evils.

    CB Radios

I'm a golf fan, so I like your analogy. Where it's flawed is that there will be others with drivers mixed in with the guys with putters. I may not hear a 5 watt radio, but I will hear another radio that's tuned. I agree that a big radio in the hands of a moron is about as annoying as it gets...

    Looks like McPain in FL

I, too, was very disappointed that Thompson didn't do well. There's no way in h-e-double hockey sticks I could ever vote for McCain. I respect him for the war hero he is, but not as a politician. My passion for politics began eroding during the Clinton years and it just keeps getting worse. I...

    Ultimate Truckers [in-dash] Radio ?

I LOVE it! Reminds me of my youth when I pumped gas for a living. I called myself a "fuel transfer technician". Sounded better than "pump jockey".

    CB Radios

I have to disagree. The CB Rambos will abuse a radio like mine and be obnoxious. But, if I'm able to find out about a problem on the road a few miles sooner, it can make the difference between exiting and going around or sitting in the middle of a jam. Besides tuning the output, the receive is...

    Winter Fronts

You don't see them nearly as much as you used to. My MBE 900 maintains normal operating temperature even in very cold weather, so I don't need one.

Van Drivers, Is Logging Really That Bad?

That freedom is what kept me in a van for longer than I really should have stayed. I liked being able to work as much as I wanted when things were busy in the hopes of balancing the slow times. I finally moved up last March and I wish I would have a LONG time ago. Oh, to more clearly answer...

Opinion on Company getting Plates 4 Tractor??!!!!

The more you have control over, the more in control you are. O.K., sounds kind of dumb saying it that way, but the point is you're giving the company control over something that could have you out of service if not handled competently. I'm thinking back to the days when many were plated in...

    CB Radios

I have the General Washington, same as the Lee but a different flag on the front. I had it tuned by the guy at the Detroiter and he knows his stuff. With the power switch on low it swings 50 watts with a dead key of 2 watts. It seems like people can usually hear me.

    cold weather and deisel

Mr. X, just wondrin what the procedure is for a flush. Just run the tanks a bit low and drain some crapola off the bottom? I use additive year round to stay on top of moisture and I've never had a problem, but that sounds like something I'd consider adding to the up keep regimen.
