    OUT AND BACK

Not dispatch's fault but being Canadian the chances of finding close by freight when I drop is almost nil (I can't do US to US). I always return home unless I need to sleep, and calculate the deadhead in before I even go...sometimes I can double up with regular runs, but I have to agree on the...

How Much Do You Really Make per Hour?

Anybody expediting with a van should already qualify for mentally disabled

How Much Do You Really Make per Hour?

For Canadians: from CRA interpretation bulletin "A claim by an individual for "motor vehicle" expenses calculated on a cents-per-kilometre (mile) basis is not acceptable." Found my answer. Yay.

I do my own repairs, such as they are - pre 2007 are pretty reliable. I'm sure someone not as radical as me will chime in. I can't figure out how anyone with a newer van that gets repairs at a shop can afford to eat...to your original question, no sprinter van jobs are not worth getting into...

Truckers Continue Protesting for Better Pay

I'd like to move to Mars and pay no taxes and choose what I want my money to pay for. Sorry, I get this way whenever I do taxes

Uh...cart before the horse? Then you can't afford to buy a Sprinter. You might want to try working as a driver before making a decision, if you can

Truckers Continue Protesting for Better Pay

Geez lately the tone is bordering on socialism. I know, I'm stuck up here in Canada. It would be nice to send a message by bringing the country to its knees but we're simply not on the radar of the average Joe. It would be equally nice to have a real capitalist system to work under, but we get...

One important point - does the company you want to work for have a minimum year for equipment (say nothing older than 5 years) that will factor in

Local is a different ballgame, I use that to survive between "expedite" runs. Buying a 3000 dollar sprinter sure helped the profitability

How Much Do You Really Make per Hour?

Ok but if you crunch the numbers, and divide your net by the time your job takes, you get an hourly number. Useful only as an idea of what your time is worth. I've been doing that calculation for years to counter wife complaints

How Much Do You Really Make per Hour?

(Removed my post, I'm tired of my own complaining) Yep, paid to listen to music and smoke and relax is the only way to think about it...

Co pilot looks quicker, I'll try that for now, thanks Turtle. Can't remember what I had against it, think at the time it wasn't free...eventually I'll have to upgrade my GPS but it still works

Ok did some research. The HD traffic that comes with the Garmin is not rated very good, but it has the capability to connect to your phone data plan and give more detailed and current traffic as well as rerouting (for a one time fee, not monthly) Thanks for the tip...i've ve been told about the...

Well, Google maps with traffic or Waze threw that right out the window. There's enough people running them around me in the city that I automatically get rerouted before the radio lets me know. Long trips I'd agree but I'm playing "courier", lots of intersections take 10 minutes just to clear...

How about I steer this to "what android app also lets you plan out unlimited routes with unlimited stops and optimize the routes with many options including avoid tolls for free" Am I the only one that puts my routes into a spreadsheet and analyzes the profitability? I started because it was a...

Doesn't seem to be any way to do multi stop even with "collections" in Here athough I see users asking for it. Pretty responsive and quick as a GPS tho. Most apps want you to pay, which I won't unless I can try it out...

    Delivery optimizing tablet

I'll try it, I like testing new gps apps. In Brooklyn I had the tomtom for iq routes, Google maps for traffic, and Navigator for truck routes all going at the same time... As for data, Wind now has canada and us roaming for data unlimited on their 60 dollar plan so no more worries

Mounting to my truck, so I consider this truck talk... Currently using the free Navigator app on multi stop runs for a new customer as my company branches out in search of runs to keep drivers busy. It does a great job, I enter in the addresses of all my stops and hit "optimize" and it groups...
