Why does panther put you on a pro before you even accept?!

Speaking of forced dispatch, I endured it during my years on the ambulance. I worked for the transport squads, as opposed to the 911 side, so I had my share of Two Ton Tillies, those folks who weigh 500 lbs, live on the second floor, are too big to properly bathe and who have to go to dialysis...

    36 Years Ago Today.......

I've lived most of my life in SE PA; most times, even if there's a blizzard, the snow disappears after a week or so. What I remember about 1977, besides it being senior year :D , was that there was snow on the ground continuously from before Christmas to Valentines' Day. This is not usual for...

Why does panther put you on a pro before you even accept?!

The Xig is right. Think for a second about how slaves were actually treated: like livestock. Imagine having no freedom whatsoever, having to count on your master or overseer for FOOD or WATER. And being able to go to town for a spot of tea? Riiiight....

Is the multi-carrier business model worth it?

A scorda..WHAAA? Thanks to Wikipedia and Youtube, I was able to figure it out: Scordatura Violin Improvisation - YouTube Don't know how well it would fly at Juilliard, but it looks plenty useful for down-home fiddlin' :D

    Groundhog day

That's because the movie was shot in a town near Chicago. I looked for familiar landmarks when I saw the movie, and was similarly disappointed. While attending Clarion U, I drilled at the Reserve Center in Punxsy from 1979-1981, so I know a "little" about the place :) Funny movie, though :)

L-Track vs. E-Track for floor of cargo van

According to teh interwebz, 52.5". Looks about right, going by the space left between the edge of the 4 by 8 I have in there now, and the wheelwell. Right now, I'm thinkin' two runs of 100" L-track, approx 24-30" apart, with a 4' piece of vertical E at the door, as Moot suggested. For the...

L-Track vs. E-Track for floor of cargo van

Trying to decide whether to install L-track on the floor of my E250 extended c/v, or E-track. I will be installing E-track on the walls so I can use a load bar, but I'm thinking of using L-track on the floor because it gets screwed down in one line, so it should be easier to mount on top of the...

    Panther guys?

IDK; like I said, I was just guessing. Just the same, it looks like they're trying to thin the herd a little. How they do it, I don't pretend to know; it also has no effect on me anyway.

    Panther guys?

I'll readily admit to being 100% ignorant concerning the situation discussed here, but could it have something to do with Panther's having been acquired by ABF? Anytime you merge two companies, there are always redundancies, and it may be easier for Panther to winnow out some of their O/O's so...

Has your truck ever killed your Cell phone?

This was in 1985, with a paid private squad in Philly. The truck was a '79 Chevy. I quit running EMS in 1992 after my back went south. :( BTW, re: the PM you sent me, you're welcome. :)

Has your truck ever killed your Cell phone?

Same thing for me in an ambulance; no cell phone problems, just a starter fire. Philly FD sprayed the console as well as underhood. The rig sat for almost a year being repaired. I wasn't that worried; as long as I got the patient, the oxygen and the $7000 defibrillator out, in that order, my...

    Question Regarding Whirlwind Express

Picked up their info packet at last year's Expo; the contract looked like it was written by a 3rd grader. Now this thread, telling me it takes 3 months to get paid. One more carrier crossed off the list. This proves that EO can really be a newbie's best friend! :)

    C/V weight limits

Saw a Chevy 1500 pickup at a masonry place one time, with half a cube of block, 14 bags of cement and a ton of sand in the bed. Tot it all up, you get 5000 lbs. Asked the guy how far he was going: "Philly, why?" I was stunned! 60 miles on your bump stops? Riiiight....
