    Boehner resigns as Speaker

That's the correct answer - but you're not the person I asked. :p

Regarding the Oregon mass shooting, it's the guns not the shooter.

Seems to me the mindset is exactly the same: it didn't go the way I wanted, and I will punish those I consider responsible, even if it takes forever.

    Boehner resigns as Speaker

But we have a "real opposition party": the Tea Party. The problem is, they oppose their own party, as well as the Democrats. Boehner couldn't fight with them and the Dems/Obama, I don't blame him for walking away. The comments about Boehner's emotional displays are unseemly and unnerving, IMO...

    Planned Parenthood's Problem vs. Capitalism

Just one little quibble: almost none of the ways to live off government largesse actually work [for example: renting to someone on Section 8 does not allow the owner to designate the renter, and the waiting lists for a place are years long. Also, getting disability can take years, even for a...

    Planned Parenthood's Problem vs. Capitalism

Like I said: limited imagination. That's a good thing, or I wouldn't have got that honey I ordered from eBee, lol. ;)

Regarding the Oregon mass shooting, it's the guns not the shooter.

I was referring to forced mental health treatment, including drugs and physical restraint [but even 'therapy' that consists of talk & behavior modification], which cannot be forced onto anyone who isn't a clear and present danger. The part about holding grudges for years, though, sounds a lot...

    Weekly (right-wing) Wing-Nut Roundup

We are talking about the victims referred to in the Tn Lt Gov's statement: "mass shootings around the country". You know, including Sandy Hook & Columbine?

Regarding the Oregon mass shooting, it's the guns not the shooter.

That is a basic problem: people don't cotton to the idea of being treated against their will, any more than they want to give up guns. You won't find many mentally ill people who are agreeable to treatment, so how do we deal with them?

    The Trump Card...

It looked exactly like any & every other comment posted, so you missed the mark in making it something other than face value. :mooning:

The Blountville Republican has his head where the sun don't shine. Many of those 'targets' were children. And if Christians were the targets, the perpetrators would be shooting solely in churches, not schools, movie theaters, and other secular places.

    The Trump Card...

You can suit yourself, Barkley, but I'd never diss a job I haven't actually done. Those who have might just take exception, and embarrass the ignorant by setting them straight.

    Planned Parenthood's Problem vs. Capitalism

Johnson from Ohio - a really snide, arrogant jerk. He & Chaffetz treated Richards like something they found on the bottom of their shoe. They wouldn't even let her answer, before badgering her with another snotty question - but she was a class act the whole time, IMO. [One columnist said that...

    Planned Parenthood's Problem vs. Capitalism

One huge problem with Ocare is what the government [insurance industry?] considers "affordable". They live in a different world altogether. Insurance companies make the monthly premiums look less painful by upping the deductible to ridiculous amounts: $6000 might as well be a million for many...

    Planned Parenthood's Problem vs. Capitalism

I have to admit, I couldn't read Turtle's entire treatise - I tried, but kept getting distracted over the part about not sending anything that could be used as a sex toy through the mail. Apparently, they had very limited imagination in 1873, lol. :D

    Just had a penitentiary flashback....

Considering the difference in time each has had to accumulate credibility and scandal, she's got them beat by a mile, IMO. Her credibility as a devout Christian seems strong, but 5 years ago, it didn't exist. How can we be sure that she won't change her mind again, like she did with husbands...

    Planned Parenthood's Problem vs. Capitalism

I cannot believe that all these years after Roe v Wade, we still have to fight the same battle. I have to wonder, if they succeed in making abortion impossible to get, [their new goal, and one they're getting closer to reaching every day, with the help of conservative legislators & governors]...

It's the imposition upon the unwilling. I realize it's difficult to refrain from doing so, especially when it's an inherent part of those beliefs [to 'witness', or evangelize], but shoving it down people's throats when they have no [real] choice but to listen is still, IMO, immoral.

    Planned Parenthood's Problem vs. Capitalism

I think it's very telling that Daleidan, who has devoted his life to the 'pro life' cause, refers to a fetus as a "creature" in his reply to a question. Because he's off guard, trying to defend the use of an image specifically to mislead people, caught in the act by someone who doesn't buy...

    Weekly (right-wing) Wing-Nut Roundup

Churches provide food. shelter, and aid to the poor in return for being tax exempt - that's the deal. In effect, they are subsidized by the government, which is taxpayers. Using that to impose their beliefs upon those who have little choice but to be a captive audience is immoral, IMO.
