    about freightliner FL70

I cant speak to the durability of this truck, but have you checked with the carrier you intend to run for? Most expeditors have policys about how old a truck they will sign.

    About Shippers And Receivers

It's hard to generalize here bt I would say most of the loads are from med to small co in the suburbs. It also kinda depends on what kind of business the carrier goed after IE. Auto factorys, etc.

Thanks Rich for reminding me about this.I had intended to write the FCC but with all the"Pre-Dispatching"Going on it plumb slipped my mind.Is it not intersting how much reg radio broadcasters have began to feel the threat of satelite. Now that the numbers are reaching the 2 million mark,no wonder...

    GETTING LOADS

    >have yet to meet one that hopes to be a dispatcher some day I did meet a nice young lady who was driving a van as a solo. She said her dream was to be a dispatcher for Then Roberts Express.I have often wondered how it worked out for her.Her name is Kristle and lives in the Akron Oh area...

The Expediting business started in Akron Oh serving mainly the Auto plants in the Oh,Mi,In,On area. It is for this reason the dealers most involved with setting up these trucks are in these states. You will probably save your self from a lot of mistakes by staying away from dealers who dont have...

    Van Requirements

Always Allways Secure Secure...I met a "D" truck driver recently who told of what happend to his first truck. He blamed the fork truck driver for not moving a 2000# skid to the front of his box.The skid was placed on the tail because the F/L was too high to go on the truck.Well this guy procedes...

    new hire question

Companys that quote a weekly gross for 45 hours, have a way of showing that the extra 5 hours were figured at the overtime rate. What they are saying is they will then pay any thing over 45 hrs at the time and a half rate.Nothing illeagl here, its just a very old practice used by hourly employers.

New to the Forum, and some advice needed.

Has FECC explained their policy of no van over five years old. This is figured from the date of manufacter. I understand this can be extended by a year if the van is taken to Green Oh for an inspection. If you are OK with this, buying used is a good way to find out if you like this business.

    FECC

Winston Churchill once said."Democracy is a very bad form of goverment. But all of the others are so much worse" I feel much the same about FECC.We have been with them for 16 years. From time to time recruters from other companys have approached us about switching.Whenever they try to compare...

The Tundra unit looks like it operates like the same as a Dura Therm. Bentz installed about 3 of them before drivers reported that they would wake up in the middle of the night sweating. This was of course while operating on Batteries (3 Deep Cycle I belive).Units would preform perfectly when...

    Log books in Alabama

Kentucky is another state requiring vans to cross the scales. They rarely enforce it.They dont require logs to the best of my understanding.States are free to place more stringent regulations on trucks than the federal regulations, but not less.
