Good question. We were out of the building about 15 minutes. When we went back in I could smell something, but it didn't smell like gas.

Ditto Greg. I just replaced my batteries. A few weeks ago they were load tested and I was told they were fine. I decided the test was wrong and replaced them anyway. They were, indeed, bad.
