Early on, I invested in a couple of 27' straps from Lowe's for exactly that reason. We were pulling a crate containing an airplane wing with no way to grab it. At only 750# it could be "steered" once a strap was slung all the way down and back the length, and hooked to the lift. I ended up using...

Ya. That too. Until loads are up. Half the loads and twice the sitting trucks is a rough combo.

Swearing off of TX. Again. For real this time. Again. I think. Ugh. At least in January. Someone quote me. At least 5 or 10 of you should "like" this post. You know who you are. ;)

We don't pay ours less than $150-$159.20 unless they like the move on the front end. But for a guy that's used to the crazy Chicago traffic and knows how to get around there, wouldn't you gladly do about 10 of those $65 locals a day???

Houston is the new Dallas. Dallas is the new Laredo. Out of curiosity, asked a broker what a load from Houston to SD went for. 80 cpm total rate. LOL!! Now, if OVM was in Houston, maybe. But wow!!

Bill would have been on that load if he could fit it. 5 stackables was a bid big for his van. At least his current van. ;)

    Fuel surcharge cargo vans

Sorry, playing catch up. Yes, recent fuel drops have affected the average rate many of the loads "go for". That said, much of the time that usually only affects the profit margin we enjoy. We try to not let it affect the truck's pay until the rate gets too low to not adjust. Lately it has...

Gotta be careful. Send OVM to ELP and he may just stay! 1670 mile direct loads get tough. He may not wanna turn for return.

We've cut a lot of bait. About tired of cutting bait. Bout dang time for the hooks in the water to ALL have bites. Central OH is letting us down. And Dallas hasn't been any better today. Yankeeland areas moved a couple and Boonieville TX moved one. But DFW and Central OH needs to wake the heck up!
