Only to way to keep it out of most backyards is to go to natural gas. For the most part, the wells are already there. I did read about some type of turbine they can use in the ocean that may show some promise, but not as a total replacement system.

It would be unusual to have a ticking coming out of the power steering pump. I would be more inclined to think it is coming from the compressor or the arm that goes to it.
