That is a big step, offering employment. Try offering to buy them the food they say they the money is for, and many will refuse.

Without a doubt, that IS the objective, it is rarely attained. And the new ' hospital' story just makes me upset. IF it is true, then what they are saying is " I just got free healthcare, you'll get the bill for that later, but right now, can give me some cash?"

After years on the road, I've heard a lot of stories from people in truck stop parking lots. The oldest ones have to be "I ran out of gas, can you help me out?" Or " I haven't eaten in X amount of days, can you spare a few bucks?" I think I'm a pretty compassionate guy, but perhaps a little...

If you get a chance to visit a farmer' s market, don't pass up the fresh strawberries. IMO, they are much better than the ones at the grocery store. They make great, healthy snack.

For those travelling west on I-20 in Mississippi, the westbound weigh station @ the Louisiana border is sort of starting early. They are stopping a parking lot full of trucks at a time to check IFTA and cab cards Safe travels.

Perhaps it is just a lack of janitorial services. The wait seems to be about the same in the evening. Could be that truck stops are putting MORE demands on FEWER personnel. In some cases, it is the personnel not fulfilling their duties in a timely fashion.
