    Re: An Injustice Averted

There might be a bump up in the price for them in the used truck market since if anyone wants a big-sleeper straight truck, that will be the only way to buy one, since the money is no longer there to support building new. At least the money is no longer there from FedEx Custom Critical. That's...

An even better thing about an open forum, especially a good one like this one, is that people can read the wide variety of views others share and benefit from what they deem good.

    Re: An Injustice Averted

You may very well be correct. But I am not ready to lower our price just yet. As do I. "Cherry picking" is a broad and vague term that varies greatly with the people using it. We have never considered ourselves cherry pickers because we don't sit and wait for the jack pot loads. We'll do...

    Re: An Injustice Averted

    1. The Great Recession is over. It has been for several months. The economy is in modest recovery with the trucking industry being more so. The recession stared us in the face and it blinked first. We got through it OK, still in business, still solvent. 2. I once worked at McDonald's flipping...

    Re: An Injustice Averted

The latter is the case. It is an injustice because we are billed for the equipment while our carrier gives the service away that they could not give away if we did not have the equipment in our truck. We pay the cost. They keep the profit. That is unjust.

    Re: An Injustice Averted

Thank you for making that distinction. It is very, very important and I hope readers who are critical of expensive truck owners listen very carefully to what I say next. I speak not for others but only for Diane and me. Other owners of expensive trucks may hold the opposite view, but Diane and I...

    Re: An Injustice Averted

Absolutely true. It goes the other way too. For some people money is very important. If you want to feel sorry for me because working for a low wage is beneath me, I'll exercise my option to feel sorry for you because you are willing to accept so little. Notice the shift you made after I...

    Re: An Injustice Averted

I cannot and will not speak for other people who buy high-priced trucks. I can only speak for Diane and me. As things are today at FedEx Custom Critical, we would not build the truck we built in 2006 because today we are seing rates decline as well as the volume of the lucrative freight we...

If you are willing to accept $10 an hour to steer a wheel, I feel sorry for you.

    Re: An Injustice Averted

Where do you get 21 hours? Regardless, we value our time and equipment too much to put cheap miles on the truck. We are not in the business to run at breakeven rates and thereby donate our time and equipment to shippers and our carrier so they can make money while we make little or none. We...

    An Injustice Averted

A husband/wife team who was recently at FedEx for TVAL training told us they saw 25 new red FDCC logo reefer trailers in the parking lot, being set up for TVAL work. If you want to know where FDCC TVAL freight is going, you need look no further than the parking lot in Green. You can further...

    Stepping Back

No. Of course not everything is really really really bad. We have our health. We are in a paid for truck. We have money in the bank and better opportunities ahead. Our complaint is that our revenue is declining because freight that percentage-paid trucks used to haul is now being...

    Sorry no good ............!

Wow! It has never occurred to me to do anything other than place the nozzle in the tank before I flip the lever that starts the fuel flow. I guess it would save a step by starting the fuel flow before you put the nozzle in the tank. Just never thought of doing it any other way.

    Perfect Time

Neither do I. Diane and I just spent a weekend at the Petro truck stop in Oak Grove, MO. Events included breakfast with two other expediting teams and a long chat after, and a long chat in the laundry room with an expediter fleet owner. Add to that the phone conversations we had and even the...

    Perfect Time

For Diane and me, the perfect time in expediting was from August, 2003, when we entered the business through the end of 2008. After 2008, the negative effects of the Great Recession began to be felt in our truck, and as time progressed. the negative effects of FedEx Freight's takeover of FedEx...

The Sinking Of The Titantic - FDCC

OK. So, if you wish, we can talk about the different iterations of TVAL as it developed at FedEx Custom Critical. That is only tangential to the point I was making when I said that Diane and I prospered without TVAL freight before and can do so again. My point had to do more with our personal...
