They don't help too much. If the cop doesn't have the trigger pushed until you show up that thing won't pick it up. Driving fast with it will bite you in the butt! Dont go over 9mph on the interstate and 4mph in the small towns and you should be fine! I hear the prices for insurance go up a LOT...
