    Never mind. It may have been a bit of a tease.

    Anyone know what it is? Something in our industry . . . We don't know yet.

    Do You or Do You Not Use The Power Deck System?

    A 12 volt winch is going to need some bigger cables to the back to run it. Big cables with big fuses!

    Do You or Do You Not Use The Power Deck System?

    We looked at it seriously but the cost sent us packing. I just don't see how we could ever seriously justify the cost. Say you have money coming out your ears? Well there is a small reduction in availalble cargo height and, frankly, it looks like it weighs a lot, maybe 200 lbs or more? I...

    Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

    Yes, a super trick wind fairing is planned. I'm hoping it works! Otherwise I have a plan B. There are two outlets near the rear of the box, mostly for anything I haven't thought of, maybe a cargo winch? There will also be shore power at the driver's rear as I use that often now at good...

    Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

    Well, yes and no. It is the same process BUT my chassis is already rated exactly 10,000 lbs. GVW so no downrating is needed. I didn't want to chance anything. No possible DOT problems here.

    Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

    I almost forgot. She's at 4,965 lbs. right now, and the rest of the body structure is pretty light as all the strength is going to be in what you see, once the welder is healthy anyway.

    Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

    The tires are rated 3,420 lbs. each and the wheels are rated 3,500 lbs. so I should be fine. Of course I wouldn't load it "tail-heavy" by leaving any substantial weight aft of the rear axle enough to be a problem. Because I'm cerifying the final assembly, I've formed "XLT10, LLC" and...

    Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

    Wow! You folks are tough on chefdennis today! So I thought we'd better give you an update so he can get a little rest! Our expert welder is in the hospital having back surgery today (not my fault!) so we are at a bit of a standstill for a few weeks but here's what we've done so far: A...

    The Sprinter Wanna Be's

    It's pretty simple. If you want the cheapest fuel cost per mile, buy a Sprinter. Be happy. However, if you want a truck that costs less to maintain, doesn't worry you about where it might break down, doesn't worry you about waiting for special parts, it properly sized for American cargo, is...

    Any one switch from a sprinter van to a gm or ford 3500 unecell single rear wheel van

    Re: Any one switch from a sprinter van to a gm or ford 3500 unecell single rear wheel That's what I am in the process of right now . . . 2006 Sprinter 3500 to 2012 XLT10 Ford 4 wheeler. I'm switching for a lot more reasons than those!

    Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

    Sorry, we were out running hard making a little cash to pay the bills! The frame extension is steel, made to the same size/specs as the original frame. The wheels are American Racing AR-23 style 16" x 7" x 8 bolt 6.5" dia. bolt circle. It was very difficult to find a 7" wide wheel with the...

    Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

    Report on Progress so far: We decided to build our truck within all the Federal & State regulations, along with Ford's instructions in their extensive Body Builder's Guide. In short, you can't believe all the stuff I had to study, including analysis of the center of gravity, braking distances...

    what dealer sells single axle cutaway box trucks {don't recomend a sprinter}

    I thought all trucks had at least 2 axles and four tires, some have two axles and six tires, and a few have two axles with six tires, but were converted to four tires, like my new truck. I don't think a single axle truck would work very well, probably tipping over a lot. :)

    what dealer sells single axle cutaway box trucks {don't recomend a sprinter}

    What chefdennis said. The Isuzu is nice but its too wide, too heavy, and the GVW requires logging. Its just a poor excuse for a real straight truck.

    DRW Box Van under 10,000K and DOT?

    Don't forget that a DRW setup will weigh more and have higher rolling resistance than a SRW truck. For expeditor work, a DRW truck is just extra hassle, more expense, and normally, less load capacity. (Athough our 6 wheel Sprinter does carry more just because MB is retarded.)

    what dealer sells single axle cutaway box trucks {don't recomend a sprinter}

    It's tough to find a good combination of max GVW and sufficient wheelbase. It seems the big box manufacturers just don't get our market, nor do they care to. Believe me, I tried. I'm only making mine because I couldn't get any of them to listen. You may want to consider building one.

    12v fridge and micowave

    In our experience, a household fridge uses ALOT more electricity than an RV fridge does, probably 3 times as much. We had a cheap household unit in our van for a while but it would kill our batteries in a day or so. Our Waeco RV fridge does not drain the same batteries for 3-4 days. So, if...
