Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

He is a good friend. I'm paying quite a bit less than his normal shop rate of $68 an hour. Keep in mind ALL he is doing is welding. I do the engineering, cutting, grinding, running/fetching, etc. That being said, there has been plenty of welding!

Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

I've gone a little over, both in time AND money spent. However, some of that was learning and more of it is that I am a freaking perfectionist. But I want the company I work for (soon, not today's) to be super proud of my truck and my service both. And I have to live with it for 3 or more...

So far, most are running less for less. E-1 is clearly focusing more and more on tractor trailers and somewhat on straight trucks.

You were uncharacteristically absent from EO for a while. I'm glad your health is still good, although we could all use more loads! I'm near your hometown this morning. It wouldn't take a lot to convince me to go to the U of M game either but I'll probably head home afterwards.

    Cell Carriers

I agree. If Verizon says its the jetpack, and you have the jetpack secured against use, turn the jetpack off when its not in use, along with the laptop(s) or other devices you have that connect to the jetpack. As you have a jetpack, you must be using it to connect something to the internet...

ONLY IF YOU HAVE SECURED IT. Otherwise everyone IS using it. Do you know how?

    Cell Carriers

You can check your actual usage on the Verizon web site, and set up alerts. What does your "My Verizon" say about your actual usage? That would reveal alot. Are your phones set on "hotspot"? If so, anyone can steal your bandwidth unless you have them passworded. Same on your jetpack. Do...

    Cell Carriers

I don't understand why you are having problems, unless you are on a different type of plan. We are on a 20 gig "share everything" plan and use data like its going out of style. NO PROBLEMS with Verizon whatsoever. Always great coverage and speed. We did also try a Straight Talk & Net 10...

    Carrier cutting rates

Yes. Of course. I've seen sprinter loads in Laredo go to other carriers because they would run it cheaper. I was told the international group was a separate profit center and they focus on return, although there are certain customers that they will NOT sell their loads, to protect those...

    Carrier cutting rates

There are a dozen in Laredo everyday. The new owner comes from a 18 wheeler background.

I agree completely. Express-1 used to focus on teams as well. No more. It's a tractor trailer company now.

    Carrier cutting rates

During at least half of the year, most drivers already ran close to capacity. That part of the year where most drivers could really use more miles will be over soon. I think part of the strategy may be to reduce turndowns, by economic pressure.

    Carrier cutting rates

I can tell you for a fact, it doesn't. I saw what another broker was paying on the load I recently took. I got 55.7% of the load. I know all load are different but this is one example of the new rate distribution. :banghead:

    Carrier cutting rates

And my point is, when a company effectively changes the percent of gross they are paying, they should change the contract percent they are paying, not add some surcharge. Trailer Transit was a step ahead as they, apparently, told you what they were going to do. That may be enough to save them...

    Carrier cutting rates

I think this is the important point. If a rotten company decides to shave your pay by running a scam, the court would certainly hear a class action suit intent on setting things right, probably including criminal charges against those that benefited from the scam against their drivers.

    Carrier cutting rates

OK, I don't know if it is true in every state, but in Michigan anyone can look up a company on the secretary of state's web site to determine ownership. So if the Fly By Night Expediting Company owns the Guess Who Is Scamming You Now Transportation Group, you could see that with a minimum of...
