    Cargo Vans and ELDs

I should know better than question Turtle , but I’d question the no endorsement required to haul the one drum of paint. I’ll agree no placards or logs, but I would expect endorsement and proper paperwork would be needed.

    Cargo Vans and ELDs

I spoke with a cargo van driver that hauls a fair amount of HazMat. He told me he uses paper logs. If he were to go over 8 days in any calendar month he would be required to switch to an ELD. He tries to not leave home placarded, in case he needs to placard to get home.

Buying a van, wait until after July?

I think there are plenty of bad owners with drivers in straights. They may not last as long as bad van owners because the overhead is larger. There’s just less straight talk on here, and they don’t park as compactly, or congregate as much as van drivers.

    GOAT posts .....

I remember somebody called a member “a skinny armed pencil pushing geek.” Although I’m not into personal attacks, I’ve wondered if that was the “kick sand in his face moment” that drove that member to leave Expediting and go into the gym business. The post must have been deleted. I’ve looked...

    Driver shortage

It’s the rates. I’ve been blessed by usually being at the high end of the rate structure. I never needed more than 10 hrs driving or 14 on duty as I always made my needed income in less than that time. Do you really want to truck more hours or do you NEED to truck more hours ? It’s illogical to...

    Driver shortage

The funny thing to me is how dramatically elds have affected people. It isn’t the ELD. It’s the rules. You still have the 11/14/70. That’s the issue. Running legal is hard. Always was, for those of us that did it. I went out for a few weeks with a student. Parking sucks. The 30 minute...

Part 2 You can tell brokers you have to be in Pittsburgh on Friday. They’ll look hard for a load for you. They know if they find one you’ll run it dirt cheap, a thought they’ll forget to mention to a shipper. I found myself running into a particular large city very often. I started getting my...

The secret to Expediting is don’t put yourself in a position to have to be somewhere. If you have to, work your way there a week early and take time off before the event. You may get lucky and get some shorties. If not, it’s just a cost of doing business thing. Your method is just too stressful.
