WOM touches on something that bothered me. At my first carrier I might get $1.80 to carry 200 lbs but a B unit might get .80 for the same Load. I never took a B unit load until I gave them all a crack at it. I moved to a % carrier that would give whoever hauled it the $1.80.

Will ? Won’t? Probably won’t. The need isn’t there. Only us that competed with them see the need. The smartest thing for a straight to do is get a reefer, a gate, or certifications so you don’t have to even consider the cheap freight. Let them knock themselves out.

Can a van do as much damage as a TT ? Sure. If a van fell asleep and took out my wife and kids would I say “Thank God they didn’t get hit by a TT “? I’ve always thought any vehicle, any size, hauling freight for hire should be regulated. It’d sure thin the herd.

Rags, some of the best straight teams couldn’t make it in TT. So, they’ll tell you they didn’t like it. Which is okay. These people are just avoiding that embarrassing first step. Seems like a smart move to me.

Just be prepared to not be offered Med/dental/ vision insurance.
