Nope....our compliance Dept....I was in Dallas when my DOT came up....E-1 waits till like 3-2 days before to remind us...MY fault it is my responsibility to know when it is due anyhow... Safety...aka compliance dept. let me have a week extension, now this is their words...since I am not DOT...

But we at E-1 have a DOT because of insurance not the DOT regulations....soooooo E-1 grants about a 7 day grace period if we get caught away from home to get one done...with the reasoning by law it is not required...they can not do that with the C and D and tractors

I've see so many pour bucks and bucks into toys and this and that and the truck/van isn't even close to paid off...why not dump the extra bucks unto the payment and get clear first... I understand we live in these tin cans but some get ridiculous...

The courts and the jury don't give a crap....once they hear you were your 18th hour or whatever..you are a dead duck...they won't care about your fortitude nor your driving record...and won't matter if you were at fault really or not....you'll be at fault just by being on the road the jury will...

so I am thinking a situation here... we vans are NOT a CMV, are NOT under FMSCA, the driver has NO CDL.... driver gets ticket and NO, CSA penalty.... does the carrier get a penalty still??
