I will say it again, I, and any citizen, are not required to carry "papers" as proof that we are citizens. My buddy Juan, is a third generation american, with the same constitutional protections as me. He should not and does not need to show "papers".

But, we have to call this issue what it is. My buddy should not have to prove he is a citizen when he goes to register his kids for school. They would not make me prove it. IMO this is due to he has an hispanic background. This is racial and nothing else.

I understand all that, and agree there is no easy answer, but EL asked why groups see this as racist. I hope I gave a good example why.

And that there is the problem. Many of the Hispanic, Mid-Eastern, Asian, etc people we see on the street have the exact family immigration tree as you guys. Their ancestors came the legal way and raised familys here. I have worked with many guys of hispanic familys that were born here...

I would like to see the stats on how many came here legally on a visa and just over stayed.

I know this, and welcome all immigrants that come legally. I was just explaning why some see these types of laws as racist.

I hope this does not start a big bruhaha here in the soapbox(ya right), but while the idea of "Surely illegal is illegal no matter what Country they are from." is true in principal, It doesn't work that way in reality. I know of many people that only see - Hispanic, Mid-eastern, Asian, etc...
