Dave, You yourself used the term "dire need". If we can't help those in "dire need", and call such help - unethical and immoral, then we have indeed become cold hearted and condem those that need a helping hand.

I've said all I care to say on this subject. I guess our society has become cold hearted enough to condem those that need help.
