My '06 Express extended 4.8L is 6,020 with me in it. I don't carry much at all. Maybe 250# including my bunk. That would have to be a really light box on there. But, it would certainly be worth scaling.

Curb of about 5,700#? Add a few hundred for a bunk and gear. Say 6,000# curb. 9,980# GVWR. 3,980 legal payload and plenty of room for 6 "skinnies". I think I like that!! Got a spec sheet on the truck? What was the standard drivetrain? Inside box dims? Sorry to be so nosey.

Matter of fact, if these are continuing loads, I could STOP avoiding southern MS and head to Mobile every time I get a MS, AL, LA load.

Me too. I even came up to Memphis. Thought I had one to NC but not. If nothing in the next couple I'll probably move between Memphis and Nashville. Or somewhere in there.
