    Recruiting Manager

I sleep when I get back home and I dont have to hunt for freight. I have a customer base within a 75 mile radius of my home that calls me when they have something that needs hauled. I pick up the load, deliver it, deadhead back home and wait for another call. Been doing it this way for 5 years...

    Recruiting Manager

If you have your own cargo and liability insurance you might as well get your own authority and forget about a babysitter.

    Stay away from these thieves!

Draw a 50 mile radius around your town and start visiting companies within that area. With one van you only need 3 or 4 companies to keep you running. Just pick up the freight they need hauled, deliver it and deadhead back home. I have been doing this with powdered metal companies in western pa...

My lord tons of repo straights

That is not going to thin the herd any, carriers will just recruit more to replace them. To really thin the herd we need a few mid level expedite companies to go under. Maybe companies like Express 1, Load 1, Tri state, Bolt express. That would be a more effective way to thin the herd.

My lord tons of repo straights

What they did was listen to all the BS coming from the recruiters and it does not matter how soon they fail because carriers will just recruit more to replace them.

I Love How Stupid The Birthers Look

Second one from the left, third one from the left is a Panther sprinter driver.

    Udate on stupid mistake.

Because all E1 cares about is that they have exclusive use of that truck with a warm body in the seat to move freight.

Quite possibly they did not want to know that.

    Factoring

I have used a factoring service since I started 5 years ago. Costs me 5% and it beats waiting 30 to 60 days to get paid. Not for everyone but works great for me.

    West Coast Expediting

Clear enough and oh so true. I know people that have left for the reasons you listed.

    Friendly Warning on Fleet

You should specify that only applies to detrimental posts. If your trying to suck up to a carrier owner or ceo than the posts will stay up.

Using Own Authority as O/O in Cargo Van?

You sure can and it is not hard. As far as getting loads I work directly with shippers, no brokers or partner carriers.

    Equiptment use fees

After reading this 20 factor test it looks like most on here are closer to employee designation than a independent contractor designation. It does not really matter that much because to the general public we are all viewed as delivery drivers who work for the company that has their name on the...

    EOBRs and Driver Harrassment

If your running completely legal than what would the negative effects be?

    Tips?

Your right about that and it seems most on here are closer to being an employee than being a contractor.

    staying out longer

I go back home after every drop, does not matter what the mileage is, I am headed home. I do this because I am an independent and all my customers are within a 75 mile radius of my house.

Debris Removal Charge?? Permission From Dispatch??

The post he was replying to was a different post than the one he called ignorant. Now who is the idiot?

Debris Removal Charge?? Permission From Dispatch??

Actually I own a van and have my own authority so that would make me a carrier. I decide what services I will offer and I set the rates I charge for these services. As far as the nurse and the pallet I would dispose of it for her free of charge and I would be the one making the decision to do...

Debris Removal Charge?? Permission From Dispatch??

As a leased contractor your not independent, your dependent. If your leased to fedex than your dependent on them for your loads. As far as being in control your comment in an earlier post "sure, just let me get the pay authorized before we start" shows who is really in control, the carrier...

    the greatest joke ever

If your a contractor you should not expect any money for deadhead miles. As a contractor the company offers you x amount of dollars to move freight for them from point A to point B. Deadhead miles are just a cost of doing business. Now as an employee you should be paid for deadhead miles...
