So Much for "Live Free or Die"

Entire article HERE Emphasis mine. The illusion of living in a "free" society is slowly slipping away. The thing that stuck me the most about this (other than the obvious over zealousness of the police in arresting a crime VICTIM) was the seizing of his weapons. Due Process?

    Condoning religious violence?

His freedom of speech (even in poor taste) was harmed, but that was not what was in question with this case. I think he would probably have a future case against his attacker infringing on his 1st amendment freedom of speech. Of course if his attacker were Christian, incensed over the zombie...

    Condoning religious violence?

I would think the atheist would have a pretty good 1st amendment - freedom of speech case against his attacker. And the judge should be removed.

Greensboro, NC TA. Might just sit for the weekend. Been an extremely busy month (for us), just over 12000 total miles so far. Nice and sunny and warm, but storms are coming later today and the temp is going to drop. At least we're not in Chicago, :)

Finish this sentence...The coolest thing I have ever hauled is...

Coolest - Piece of "Optical Glass" that went to an aerospace company. Weirdest - I kid you not - stainless steel totes filled with "Pregnant Mare Urine"

    FedEx Custom Critical Rebranding Update

We drive one of the red Kenworths, so I guess the logos will be coming off our truck at some point. We will be sorry to see them go. When Phil was still with FedEx CC, he mentioned several times that driving a truck with the big FedEx logo had subtle benefits, and this has been our experience...

How is your 2012 so far?

This would have probably been our best month so far, except for TVAL testing right off the bat, and a couple of truck issues over the last week. (We lost 2 very good loads when our truck had "issues" at the last moment.) We have been busy when the truck was in service, and the loads paid very...

    Question on Logging & EOBR

Moose, I think our hand written FedEx BOL would qualify as it does identify a particular movement of cargo. That is the number we put into the C-link for each trip. I also think the only thing required for change in duty status is the name of the closest town, village or city. Our c-link...

What Truck stop do you use.

For us, T/As and Petros just seem "nicer". More parking spaces (and wider) than most Pilots. Some of the newer Pilots are very nice inside, but still seem to suffer from a lack of parking. Flying J's are nice for the dump stations (for our porta-potty), and usually have more spaces. Not...

Sitting at the Vince Lombardi Service Plaza on the NJ Turnpike. Pick up in NYC in the morning. Probably the dirtiest parking lot we have encountered so far. Glad it rained to wash a little of the filth away (and cover the smell.) Don't really like it here, but seems to be about the only...

What Does the EO Open Forum Mean to You?

I was very fortunate to find EO very early on while researching expediting. It has been an invaluable source of information for us and our foray into the expediting world. We have had the pleasure of meeting several of the members here in person, and have made some great friends along the way...
